A Question on Hybrids...

Something about hybrids and efficiency struck me the other day. Are there any hybrid systems in development or concept stage that replace the piston engine with a gas turbine?

With the ridiculous efficiency you can get from one, I would think that a 20-40hp mini-turbine turning a big honkin' DC alternator, charging batteries and turning traction motors (simple AWD) would be a good deal more efficient than the current crop of overly-complicated piston/battery hybrids. Any info on this?

Sense nothing is 100% efficient, it wouldnt work. The turbine would take more battery power to maintain then the power that would be put back into the battery, They have tried systems like this, and they dont work like one would think

Huh?

Im talking about a miniature gasoline-fired turboshaft engine, turning a DC alternator.

It may seem efficient at first, but after about 30 mins of driving, the battery is draining faster then it is re-charging, the turbine would start to slow down and so does your car

Words simply escape me. Do you understand what a Gas Turbine is? A turboshaft engine?
