Post Quality issues w/ the 03 Cobra's already?!?

Was reading over on the corral some guy took delivery on his 03 Cobra conv.. Said he wanted to see what it had, downshifted to 2nd and said as soon as he mashed the gas the car completely fell on its face w/ the boost gauges going crazy , he knew something was very wrong. He said it kept missing the whole ride w/ absolutely no power... lifted the hood and the car was running extremely hot? This is on a one day old car folks.

Should have bought a Chevrolet. Incase others haven't noticed, like all F**d cars have BS and recalls like crazy, that car isn't gonna be any different.

Hopefully this site isn't destined to repeat what is already going down on LS1.com.

One of the members on the Corral reported that a friend of a relative took delivery of a 03 Cobra, and it had an engine problem of some sort essentially from the get-go. No resolution yet (it is a weekend).

LS1.com is currently in a "03 Cobra's are all junk" feeding frenzy over this one car.

Maybe the fool who had the Conra should have broken it in instead of beating on it on the first day. We dont know the specifics of the situation, so I wont be too quick to say it was a Ford quality problem.

Im no Ford fan, but I'll atleast give the car a chance to prove itself before making any preconceived notions.

....moral? It is an unfortunate occurance that can happen to any car, of any make, and of any year....even those that cost $50k.

From an AP article in the Detroit Free Press:

June 7, 2002

BY NEDRA PICKLER
ASSOCIATED PRESS

NHTSA also is stepping up its investigation into nearly half a million General Motors Corp. vehicles after 28 crashes were blamed on a possible steering problem. More than 1,200 people have complained that the steering rack and pinion suddenly locked up while they were driving.

The investigation involves the 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997 models of the Pontiac Grand Prix, Pontiac Trans Sport, Chevrolet Venture, Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Silhouette and Oldsmobile Cutlass.

The problem can cause the driver to lose steering control. GM reported six crashes in which eight people were hurt, but no injuries or deaths were reported in the other 22 crashes. "

WhooshStang, etc....

You dont need to post articles about specific problems in GM automobiles. I believe the intelligent majority of us realize that all manufacturers have problems from time to time. We could be here all month posting recalls and defects.

Let's stick to the topic at-hand. Hopefully everyone is smart enough to not put much merit in this one case. We'll watch and see if anything else happens with the rest. However, I personally dont believe we will see anything out of the ordinary.

Im more interested to see what they run at the track.

Thats like 1 thing for GM in how long. F**d comes out with recalls and BS with their cars faster than it takes a COPO Camaro 427 to get down the track. Watch, the F**D Impala SS ( ) is gonna probably be the same.

Uh, huh...I'm sure that's the lone issue GM has had. If you think that's the only quality issue that GM has had in "how long", then you're either naive or stupid. Blind loyalty is a wonderful thing.
Take some time to browse the NHTSA recall database, then come back and try to claim that GM doesn't hasn't had it's fair share of recalls and TSB's.
I'll be the first to admit that Ford has some serious issues with the Focus program. I put some miles on one of those cars earlier this year as a loaner, and while it seemed to be a pretty neat little car (and is ranked by Consumer Reports as the best Small Car), it's be plagued by safety issues and recalls.
Time will tell if the '03's are good cars.

And you would be stupid to think GM has as many as F**d because its just not so. Its like every car that comes out there is an issue with it. Their quality is still not up there with GM. If they're gonna represent musclecars, the GTO better get here fast!!
