Sorry for the misunderstanding, I wasn't trying to correct you, I just thought it was pretty odd that Pontiac's version & not Toyota's is made here & sold in Japan, that's all.
It could be because TMMC is producing at or near it's limits (or will be), and can't supply Matrix vehicles to Japan. It could be because the car is a GM car (Vibe) that GM thinks will do well in Japan. Cavalier is sold as the Toyota Cavalier in Japan.

Or, the most probable reason:

Japanese consumers actually have some taste and would prefer an edgy Pontiac to a dull Toyota?

Well from a dealer's standpoint...

1) I can't believe the sales of the Vibe are on par with the CTS! Go CTS! Vibe? Damn...was hoping for better

2) A vast majority here in New England want AWD...and those are hard for us dealers to get...hence maybe why sales are down a little.

3) The ramp up seems to be painfully slow with the Vibe...another reason why sales are low? I saw CTSs on lots before Vibes early this year.

4) Needs more power....period. Its crying at least for the 2.2 Ecotec with 140hp.

5) We have big hopes for them!!
