Which would you consider to be the most appropriate Pontiac performance flagship?

I voted the new GTO. If pontiac wants to upscale their image, a boy racer T/A isnt going to get the job done. The GTO offers F-body athletics with the style and sophistication of a more expensive German automobile. Its not perfect yet, but it will get better as time goes on.

I voted 5th Gen T/A... different from Camaro... but that doesn't mean it can't share a platform with Camaro and still have a V8...

I have to agree, the GTO is the way to go for a flagship for Pontiac. Everyone has always said that the Camaro is a poormans Corvette. Welp, for anyone who wants this kind of image in an upscale version like a Corvette but with a rear seat there is no other choice. I personally think the GTO should evolve into a more Classy type of car. More refined with the power and performace of a F-body only with nicer upscale matrials and craftsmanship. I do however believe that this should be mostly in perception. The cost of a GTO should only be slightly higher than an F-body IMHO. This would make it an excellent choice for Pontiacs flagship.

I voted for the GTO because I think it has the image of the Pontiac flagship all over it. It nailed the ride quality and other aspects that the f-body couldn't match. With the upcoming changes planned for this flagship car things will only get better and it's already quite up there. I gotta tell you if I had the money right now I would seriously consider it to be in the stable with my SS...alas

I like the idea of GTO being the total performance flagship at Pontiac...but I don't think that has to exclude a nice ground-pounding Firebird from the lineup somewhere...

Then again why is this even an issue? Billy Bob said the "Firebird is dead."

I kinda like the idea of a black GTO, AND Trans AM both sporting dark tint, and factory Rain Air hoods rumbling down a dark street at night stoplight to stoplight and pounding mustangs one after another.

But Im a dreamer.

I have a soft spot in my heart for full sized Pontiacs. As far as I'm concerned the "golden age" for Pontiac was roughly between 1958 and the early '70's....when Bunky Knudsen and later John DeLorean ran the show.

Of course there is no denying the performance impact that the GTO and Firebird had on Pontiac...but oh those full sized Ponchos.

Bonnevilles, Catalinas, Grand Prix, 2+2's. These cars really represent "Pontiac performance" to me. Super Duty engine parts for 389, 421, 428. Eight lug wheels. Heavy duty brakes and suspension parts. Exotic light weight body panels. 4 speed manuals.

What an incredible and classy performance image these cars had. And..at the time... probably the most beautiful sheetmetal in the world.

Hello Doc, it was only because of the cold weather.
Traction was bad though. You've gotta come out next time
