Question Pontiac drops a hint of a future Firebird?

I goto the Firebird Heritage page on www.pontiac.com ( http://www.pontiac.com/firebird/inde...me%20'#top ) every once in a while to check it out... and I could swear the wording has been changed...

"The fire inside Pontiac present and future."
"a piece of our past and even a glimmer of the future. "
I am about 98% sure that this wording was not used before...

I know I am probably grasping at straws here... but....... it'd be odd for the wordage change for no good reason...

Oh, the page has defnately been up for a while... at least 6 months...

But, I do not recall the wording referring to "the future" at all, and I check that page semi-regularly to see if anything new is there... and I noticed what I think is some wording change...

Eh, it's probably nothing, but you know... dream away!

Practically everything was new from the sheet metal to the engines to single-lamp headlights and Endura body-colored bumpers. This wasn't so much a model year change as a rebirth. And the reborn Grand Prix for 2004 available beginning April 2003 - is pretty dazzling too. See it now.
Boy, that threw me when they put that 2004 GP promo in the description of the '70 bird....Odd...

Solstice will get its name changed when it goes back into production.

The Firebird in various concept stages was a two seater.

Not hard to see..

I have been saying this for a year...and I am sorry but if it comes true I am not going tp be able to find a flag pole big enough to run my flag up...

While I do not think this to be impossible... I think it'd be a poor choice by Pontiac.

It'd 'fire' up a bunch of Firebird traditionalists, and put the new type of buyer that might have interest in this car with a different name out of the market, because they think of Firebird as a different type of car.... a 2door, 4 place car with a V8, not 2 door 2 place car with a turbo 4-banger.

In short, I don't think there is a better name for Solstice than "Solstice".

I think Pontiac calling the Solstice, "Firebird" is a definite possibility. I wouldn't be surprised if that name is the front runner.

Yeah...but the Firebird name is possibly the most recognized name Pontiac has (untill the GTO cam back...many younger people were unaware of it). To Pontiac the few Firebird guys who will raise a fit may be worth the name recognition they get from Firebird.

Point taken...

I just don't think that some very integral parts (2 seats / turbo 4-banger) fit the name Firebird properly...

Plus, if this car is supposed to appeal to a new market... why not use a new name?

Just my .02 on it...

Forgive me if I get all riled up here but...

IF THEY WANT THE NAME RECOGNITION OF "FIREBIRD" WHY DON'T THEY BUILD A REAL FIREBIRD?!?

First you claim that the Firebird name no longer draws people and then you want to slap it on a car that doesn't resemble what Firebird has been for 35 years. Yes, another brilliant marketing move!

Call it Solstice. That's how everyone knows it. That's the name that is being drilled into everyone's heads. You've already gotten the free publicity. USE IT!
