You must be kidding, right? The first (and last) new 3800 V6-engined F4 I test drove had exhaust noise of the same quality and volume as a clunker.

Like the rural areas are probally can get by better than the urban areas. I live in a rural area but It would be cool if the V6 camaro had a nice exhaust tone wtih the V8 sounding even better. Sometimes people don't like a over the top loudness but just want that rumble or sound that they can rev their vehicle up and grin.
exactly why i made this poll
before i had my z28, i had to deal with my rs being slow (and still do)
it was nice though that it had a deep throaty tone to it, rather than my father's 95 which doesn't make a peep to my ears from inside the cabin

Yes, it sounds like the groaning flatulence that comes from kneeling on a dead cow.

Please keep the V6s silent. Please.

I agree with jg, most people who buy v6 models arent gonna care how it sounds so best bet might be to keep it kinda quiet stock. The aftermarket can take care of you if you need more power and better sound.

True to that! Mine doesnt sound bad but I've heard some AWFUL sounding exhaust systems for 3.8L f-bodies.

I've heard some bad ones before but when i didnt have an exhaust system on mine, I could barely hear the damn thing when I stepped on the gas. However the 3800 up front likes to make enough noise you think the thing is trying to claw its way out from under the hood . But the thing is tougher than a brick and will run forever if taken care of

You are correct. I do not own a V6 muscle car. I own a Z28.

The car I drove all those years ago supposedly had a "dual exhaust" as part of a handling package. Admittedly, I had the thing floored on a very steep upgrade, but the sound effects were too nasty to forget.

If you want it to sound louder, the consumer can always add a high flow exhaust him/herself.
I'm sorry but I don't get this mentality that anything smaller than a V8 is a ricer. Are you HONESTLY saying you don't belive in anything but V8 power? There are and have been quite a few really nice performance machines running on less than 8 cylinders.

Lets set it straight. Just because it's a 4 or a 6 does NOT mean its automatically a ricer. Ricers make something appear what it is not by relabeling, rebadging, rebodying, stikering, etc. The whole reason they are a joke is because they miss the point of performance over appearence.

Example: Putting a fart pipe on a bone stock Civic is ricerish. Having a decent sound on a V6 performance car from the factory is NOT rice.

I don't own a V6 muscle car either. We were talking about 4th Gen V6 Fbodies in this thread. I pointed out an error in you post. Then I demonstrated why I am an expert on the matter at hand, whereas you are not.

That's a nice story. I like how "no fourth gen Fbody can be described as having a close to silent tone" is based on a test drive many years ago in a vehicle equiped with options that you cannot properly elucidate. The vast majority of V6's sold came with single out mufflers. But obviously they must be loud because one that you allegedly drove with a different muffler had a loud exhaust when you floored it up a steep grade.

As stated by SFireGT98, there is little exhaust noise. If you give it max throttle and you will hear the engine, but not the exhaust. The dual out mufflers available with Y87 and W68 did not make the exhaust noticably louder.

Quiet exhaust, but muscular on a V6 RS (if made).

Muscle sound is for the aftermarket V6s, RS (as mentioned above), and V8s...
