Lightbulb POLL: Which engine do you think the Trailblazer SS should have had?

I wish they had put the TT'd Atlas I6 in there, making it more of a modern day Typhoon. Normally, I'd always prefer a V8, but the 6.0 with only 345 hp isn't going to give a Lightening much of a fight. The I6 would though. And it would be easier to mod. I'm dissappointed that Chevy didn't put more effort into this truck.

So anyway, I think the turbo'ed I6 would have been the best choice for this application. In any SS cars I'd rather have a V8, but thats just my preference.

I actually think the 6.0L is pretty damn good for a trailblazer

TT I6 Atlus all the way. More power bigger wow appeal. Easy to make more power with just a few bolt ons. I know the GenIII could make more power than the atlas ever will but!!!! Foe a lot more money and a lot more in mods. I want a AWD Colorado SS regular cab short box with a Blown GenIII or turbo Atlus I5 or I6.

How many really think the production version with the I6 would be packing 400 hp? They just about always detune units like that for production... if for no other reason than managing warranty claims. The V8, on the other hand, would likely be just like you see it. Plus it sounds better IMHO, and likely has less maintenance cost.

I generally would choose a V8 over any other type of powerplant configuration...

Even a detuned version with only say 350hp would be very easily made to do way more than that. The responsivness to mods is important here. The MT article even said that the engine would be able to handle more power. Right now, GM needs something that will kill a Lightening. The TT I6 has the potential to do that more so than the LQ4 in its current trim.

Definitely the TT I6. No doubt in my mind that engine belongs in the Trailblazer SS. Honestly I was disappointed with the 6.0 getting in there after the Motor Trend article on the TT I6 Trailblazer.

TT I6, without a doubt.

That engine is alot like the Supras had, and could probably take alot of power... just in the fact that it's an I6, not even considering it's built for boost. Heck, Toyota and Pontiac made the Matrix and Vibe, I wonder if Toyota had in part of that TT I6? I'd like to read that MT article...

It blows me away that people on this board don't want a big V8 in anything. I'm not flaming or anything, to each their own. It just really is suprising to me!

There is a big difference here. We're not talking about putting the TT I6 in a muscle car like a new Camaro, Firebird, GTO, etc. The Trailblazer has no history as a tire smoking muscle car, however it does share an ancestor in the turbo V6 Typhoon and Syclone. So just because we would rather see a boosted I6 here doesn't mean we don't want V8s in muscle cars.

I think it would be sweet to have a Turbo I6 or Turbo I5 in a RWD car from GM. They would be fun to build and play with. People Love the Turbo Buick and Sy/ty crowd loves the turbo V6 that came in thoes trucks. ( I have always wanted to build a tein turbo V8 for a syclone) It is kinda lame when every performance car and truck from GM has pretty much the same motor in it. I want a pushrod V8 RWD car. I would also like something different from the General.

I prefer the V8. I suspect a turbo 6 would be more popular with the younger crowd, and it would be OK with me as well. As you know I'm no fan of SUVs, but if I had to buy one, it'd be a Trailblazer.

I've been around long enough to remember GM putting nothing but sub-100hp 2.3 liter 4s and 2.8 liter 120hp V6s in these types of SUVs, so it's pretty ironic we are voting on 2 likely production engines that both make well in excess of 300 horsepower.
