Picture of 2004 Impala SS
I hope the don't start making too many chevy daewoos, I had a econobox 2002 daewoo Nibia, or something like, that in Florida as a rental. for a I4 it sure sucked down a lot of gas, my grand prix GT gets better gas milage and is a lot bigger.
The Chevrolet you're thinking of:

I'll be honest up front. I have always really disliked this current body style Impala. Just totally reminded me of a granny car.. very boring, very conservative. Now, having said that, I have to admit that the SS pics I've seen so far are really surprising. Those admiteddly small and subtle differences seem to add a whole new transformed dimension to the car. I like the glossy dark minimalist look and the sportier wheels. I could see someone being passoinate about that SS while totally being nauseated by the non-SS model.
What's even more surprising than all that is the fact that I feel exactly the same about the 91-96 b-body and the 94-96 Impala SS, respectively. That paragraph could relate directly to those years. With one big difference: RWD. No excuses there. I'm waiting for 06.

The more I look at those Chicago auto show pictures of the Impala...the more I like the car. To me, it is nothing like the 5 million Impala rentals here in Florida. That black paint, with nice sport appearance package ans spoiler.....I especially like the head-on shot. It's definitely a contender for a daily driver to pair with my other 2 SS's. I'll also be taking a close look at the new Malibu.
However...it looks like a blown Impala is going ot be knocking on $30k's door? Anyone think otherwise?
