I heard when the Crown Vic goes bye-bye, and the new Ford full-size RWD replacement comes out they will be pulling a Chevy, bringing a old name from the closet. The Ford Fairlane.
That was at least a couple of years ago, things have probably changed since then.
Crown Vics are fairly popular with cops, mainly because its the only RWD game in town. Most would rather be driving LT-1 Caprices. Actually Cop Crown Vics are not called Crown Vics any more they have Police Interceptor badges all over them. The problem is they don't do much Intercepting with the current powertrain.

FWIW, I think the name "Futura" is horrible !

<shrug>

Sounds just like it did as a 'subbrand' in the seventies and all... like it's something from some cheesy sixties space movie.

But, hey, it starts with the letter "F", which is apparently the most important thing as far as names go to Ford right now.

Darth,
I agree with you that the Futura has CTS-esque lines.

And I hate the name, also. Remember the old Fairmont Futura from the late 70s?

Still a nice looking sedan. One of Ford's nicest.

LOL. Ya, I do actually...

The chick I went to prom with (back in 1990, doh ) had one (a 78 maybe?) White with red interior, horrible nasty thing!

It was funny because me and my friends were out cruising the strip in my 89 black Camaro RS at the time, and saw her driving through our local mall's parking lot. She was moving along fairly fast (for that car anyway. lol) and I look at my friend in the passenger seat, and he looks at me, and we both say at the same time "She can't go that way!"

Next thing you know, sparks shoot out from under the car, hub caps go flying and rolling off to the side, and her front wheels were locked up perpendictular to the rest of the car!

Well, she hit a curb at about 35 MPH... Me and my friends spent the next hour trying to patch that thing together enough to get it home.

I also agree with u Darth! The very first thing i thought when i saw that thing was CTS. Bahhhhh, and i liked the CTS's uniqueness in the styling dept. too. Now we could have a Ford toting around similar styling

I cant tell if I like it or not, its just a drawing. Wheels, stance, and roofline proportions are always way overdone. There is some Caddy in that front, but I think it will be hard to do a good CTS ripoff.(I'm sure the Japanese are hard at work on that right now!!)
