In the end this would reduce the initial production costs and perhaps even speed up production. However the buyer might not see much relief as the dealer add-on costs would go up. The real advantage to the buyer is the ability to walk into the showroom and see the car they want, and then choose from a shopping list of accessories that the dealer could install at a small extra cost. The add-ons could be as minor as ground effects, rims and stripes, or as much as adding a supercharger.

I think its important to keep it simple.
