It also could be a GTP 6 speed Sedan. I didn't see anywhere he said coupe.

 

I bough my G6 brand new and am a die Hard Pontiac fan. None of these are major issues but I was very disappointed to have all of these annoyances. I bought a new car so I wouldn't have to deal with issues just like this. This was a fully loaded 05 G6 GT. The only option it didn't have was the panoramic roof. The only reason it didn't have the roof is because I wanted XM radio and you can't have both.

I searched for 3 months to find the perfect car and this one was it. The only thing that saved me was I put a large amount of money down. I lost about 8K for selling it so soon.

This will be the last GM car I will ever buy new. This was my 4th brand new GM car.

I don't plan to ever buy a new car again. I am being stationed in Hawaii In Sept and plan to buy a Formula or Trans AM there.



From June till Jan.


1. Trim piece in overhead kept falling down.
2. The driver's side windshield wiper came apart at 3000 miles. In the rain of course. I ended up just buying two new ones out of my own pocket which was $80. It was a Saturday and I found an open parts dept but no open service dept. Pontiac declined to reimburse me.
3. A wire run in the trunk was broken. (plastic connector)
4. One of the rear seat fold down mechanism's cable froze.
5. The battery cover was cracked.


From Jan till March.

1. Fog lights do not work
2. On the driver’s side the passenger window button is hard to operate.
3. Radio: Sometimes when I get in the car and start the engine the radio has switched back to the default AM and I can’t select it back to XM radio. Other times the radio will read Check DAB and I can’t select XM radio. Still other times the radio will read XM locked and while I can hear XM radio I can’t use the display on the radio.
4. The car over starts. It sounds like the starter hangs up.
5. There is a connector on the Throttle body that is broken/loose.
6. In the trunk, on the passenger side, one of the cargo net holders is stripped out.
7. The gas gauge reads full only momentarily. By the time I am out of the gas station parking lot the fuel gauge reads less than full. By the time I am home, less than 2 miles, the fuel gauge has dropped even further. I have tried a variety of gas stations and gas pump nozzle types. I keep track of my gas usage so I am positive I am filling it up.
8.The A/C blower motor makes noise at low speed.
9. The steering assist just stops working occasionally. Luckily I have been in parking lot at slow speeds when it happens.

The day before I sold it.

When I did I Pushed the Pontiac symbol in the steering wheel through the airbag cover and into the airbag. There is airbag hanging out of the center of the steering wheel. I just barely double tapped the horn.


That is 15 issues in less than 9 months.

 

Maksik's car is a 4 door...I know, because he almost made the 3 hour trip to come order one from me back when he ordered his car...

 

Ok.....I was thinking 6-speeds were 2-door GTP only. But he did say in another read here, to avoid the 6-speed G6 like the plague, so I thought he was having transmission problems.

 

Take it to the dealer for the same problem twice. Then take it a third time and tell them if they don't fix it you fully intend to lemon law the vehicle. There's about a 98% chance it'll get fixed then.

BTW, That sunroof looked like a disaster to me from the beginning...

 

Wow, I would have raised hell and requested a new car before selling it. There are such things as Lemons...

 

Got my G6 back last night after 3 weeks at the shop with the Techs working with GM engineers to fix the Pano sunroof problem. I know that it has all new rails and a whole hell of a lot of the isolation washers. So far the car is quiet, but I'll wait a week and know more.

Let's hope GM figures out how to fix this on the assembly line BEFORE the Saturn AURA hits showrooms with the sunroof.
