Opposed. The SS may have been the "common camaro" back in the day. Times have changed since then, and the SS is now the high end model. The general public thinks of it that way, and it might be a bit difficult to reverse that again.

Why not just go with a completely new designation? Like Z-76 or something.

Not really. The SS moniker will probably be overused and driven into the ground in the next few years. The Z28 moniker will be remembered as being a symbol of the old generation of Camaros.

The new 5th gen Camaros can have a new designation. The Z28 namesake was made legendary by the Camaros of previous generations. Let the new 5th gen make it's own legend.

Thats ridiculous. Lets just forget the cars' history.

I dare any1 to go around asking random people of all ages if they have heard of or know what a Camaro Z28 or a Camaro SS is. I guarantee more people know the Camaro Z28. Guarantee it.

Yea thats was pretty dumb to go change the name of the "top dog". Before I got the V6 Camaro I wanted a Z28 thinking it was the "top dog" but after being on this board for about a month I discovered the SS. My opinion if the Camaro comes back is there should be a V6 with RS options but not called an RS. The RS would be a small V8. The Z28 would have the same engine as the SS. The SS should get a S/C... and be called a Cobra

Red, I just re read your postings in this thread, but you were saying something about Chicago. Nothing seemed to be unveiled in Chicago except for the new Monte Carlo SS and the Impala SS! All that hype was about those things? FWD V6's with such an inefficient supercharger system that it only raises the hosepower from 200 to 240 at 8psi??? Was that what you wanted us to be excited over???

Uhhhh........no....go reread the post....

my point was that we would have a lot of stuff to look at....

SS Concept
SS Salon with video and array of old and new power trains
Cheyenne concept
Motorsports display with NASCAR, IRL and C5R -- with Andy Pilgrim signing C5R cards one evening...
Corvette Salon with video and '53 Corvette
Z71 Salon
Supercharged SS Monte and Impala
Equinox
Malibu
Colorado
SSR Signature Series

True....no Camaro....no one is more disappointed in that fact than I...but still, quite a lot of stuff to see.......in one show.
