Now that the G8 ST is coming to the US, who's buying.....
Of course.
The one truly unique Pontiac vehicle that comes along every 4 years is cloned by another brand.
Sounds awfully familiar.

Ak! That's my hometown.
I'll have to keep my eyes open the next time I visit mom!

Yeah... not a big fan of this one. Shame I couldn't find a better picture though.
EDIT: Looks better with clearer pictures... figured I'd try "LeMans" and got this.
Check out the other El Camino "mutations". Some pretty decent looking ones on there.

Seeing that article explains it. I knew I'd seen it somewhere, and after seeing that I realize I read the Muscle Car Review article on it. I was devouring that mag in 1987 (the year I got my driver's license) along with Muscle Car, Guide to Muscle Cars, and Muscle Car Mania (hard to believe that there used to be 5 or 6 muscle car magazines not even counting the marque specific ones). I'd forgotten it was dealer made. But that was 21 years ago

Hey, someone has to do it.
I have two slightly better pics of that '68, but they aren't worth posting as they just confirm how ugly the car really is. They would have had a better chance of convincing GM to build it if they had used a '68 GTO instead of a base Lemans.
EDIT: the GP based one I posted is in private hands, but the Grand-Am car is still in the GM historical collection.

I'd love to replace my Sierra with one of these, but I'm not sure it would be practical enough. My truck doesn’t see the heavy work it used to, but it still gets some and I don’t know if the ute (or G8 ST) would be up to challenge. It would be perfect 90% of the time, but then there’s that 10%, but it would also be so much more fun than my truck.
