Truely, I'm happy for you, and many others that will love this car. For some reason, it just looks really funky and odd to me.

I don't like the Malibu Maxx either, which is another one of these types of cars. Love them or hate them.

I'm a big fan of GM in general though.

Thanks guys.

And the rumors that I've owned a few f-bodies are all true.

I swore that I'd own at least one Zeta, but that doesn't mean two or more are out of the question later on.

Why an El Camino? Does no one remember the El Catalina? GM I believe made two prototypes of this car in '59.

First picture is one owned by Jay Leno. It's not an original El Catalina, but made to replicate the original prototypes. I figured I better include the picture of his since the only picture I have of a real one is crap.

So is this coming out as a 2009? 50th anniversary El Catalina?

Could Pontiac become more of a Unique vehicle brand?

I believe that Pontiac had a proposal for an El Camino type vehicle using the Tempest front sheetmetal in the late 60s as well, but GMC ended up getting the Sprint instead.

This is, by far, the next biggest market in the automotive sector.

Crossover pick 'em up trucks. I'd LOVE to see a small, compact, Saturn "sport truck." I think it would a phenomenal sales success.

Only if they overestimate demand. 5k-10k a year, and it still makes a (small) profit, it'll be fine.

Thanks.

Pontiac had a number of showcar/prototypes like the "El Catalina" over the years - so this isn't completely new territory.

What people don't realize is if GM sells just 5-8,000 of 'em annually, it's a success.

This thing is basically free to GM.

Believe it or not, one was headed in the opposite direction on the freeeway when I was going to work yesterday. I-280 northbound. Near Redwood City. Couldn't miss the thing. That body stands out.... and it was painted retnia-melting red.
