No G8 Sportwagon for U.S.
Not really.
This GMC concept is, in my view, a perfect product for the times. However, it may destroy any hope of a true El Camino- type vehicle being brought here. The public is addicted to AWD and 4 doors. So, for me, It is a love/hate thing.

It sounds like Camaro will need to meet much higher sales expectations than originally intended. It will now need to sell well enough to justify the enormous investment in Zeta, since it's the only North American project to actually make production.
True, however you have "crossovers" like the Ford Taurus X and that Toyota they just showed off that are pretty much just jacked-up station wagons.
But the 6th gen Camaro's.....
...now that's the Question.
Not likely.
Unlike Ste Therese, Oshawa has a major investment from GM both current and planned.
More depends on the plunging US dollar against the Canadian dollar. Canada's currency is on par with US currency. If nothing changes, I'd expect to see GM begin divesting out of Oshawa.
But we're talking years into the future. It took GM over 6 years to work it's way out of the way smaller, far less important Ste Theres plant.
It was planned to be shipped to Oz for some time.
Not really.
Holden is going to be producing some crossovers that's likely to find it's way here. Also, Holden is going to be working on (if it already isn't) and using the Alpha for it's likely VE replacement.
You nailed it.
Would the CTS SportWagon really trample on the G8 wagons market? The way I see it, CTS would be a wrung or two up the pricing ladder and therefore more limited numbers-wise, so is there any market overlap there? On the other hand if the CTS wagon looks anywhere as good as the CTS or the coupe then..... I dunno.
Personally I just don't want to see the dream die before it has time to happen. That dream being affordable RWD cars from GMNA that aren't sporting a pricey Buick or Cadillac badge.

True that. I don't see why they just couldn't design a lighter car in the first place, then it wouldn't need 6+ liters of V8 to make it haul azz.....I say Mazda RX-8 weight +/- a few pounds and a performance version of the 4.8 or 5.3 LS engines. Leave the 7.0L and 8.0L gas hogs to Z06 and Viper dream cars.

Thanks, I know they have dropped fleet sales etc and now the plant makes alot less cars for the Australian market. It is now 50/50 on the line, so if VE does not sell O/S Holden will take a hit.
