No AWD for the HHR says Campbell

It seems tragic to be that GM couldn't have replaced the Toyota-sourced Vibe with a Delta based crossover - a sort of non-retro stablemate for Chevy's HHR.

) and let the HHR take over that market. Oh, but wait...we have no AWD. Well that blows a good theory. And imagine how much BETTER an HHR would be with the 50 extra HP, nicer styling and better interior for THE SAME PRICE. Actually, the HHR offers more for less than a comparable FWD Vibe.
Chevy, you shot yourself in the *** with this one. GM, lets keep giving business to Toyota with our pseudo-American Pontiac/Toyota.
BTW, a Vibe AWD is painful to drive. Atrociously loud, and painfully slow...

What I meant IMO as a waste of money is the AWD. Adds more cost, more moving parts - for something that again IMO is NOT needed.
I only got the Blazer in 4x4 because:
1) It's hard to find one thats not.
2) Pulling a boat out of the water with just RWD when you get below the "moss" line can be interesting - and we use the Blazer to pull it every now and then. With FWD you don't have to even worry about that although I don't think the HHR could handle any towing...

As someone who has driven FWD in snow and ice................ and AWD in snow and ice......... I'll take AWD thank you.
If you haven't done it, you don't understand. Just like people who drive around their RWD vehicles can't understand what all the hoopla is about FWD in inclimate weather. Yes you can get there in anything. However, how much you "age" to get there is the difference. It is degrees of simplicity. RWD and snow = major white knuckles. FWD and snow = minor white knuckles. AWD and snow = driving home in annoying weather.
Modern AWD vehicles are no more problematic than any other vehicle on the road. We had a 1987 Audi 5000CS Quattro with 330,000 miles on it. The AWD system was all original. You want to know what it needed to make the drivetrain happy???? New suspension bushings. Thats it.
