NHTSA to require new roof standard for trucks...
[Washington, DC]
Alarmed at the fact that apparently Chevrolet trucks do not provide enough protection to passengers during in-cab explosions, NHTSA has now ordered all 2007 trucks to be capable of sustaining a stick of dynamite detonated with the doors closed and the windows rolled up without separation or breakage of the roof seams.
"It's about time these shoddy manufacturers started taking better care of the intelligent and careful innocents who buy their vehicles" said Dayton Newberry, Interim Director of Explosive Standards at the department.
Consumer's Reports has stated for years that imported vehicles are much better at resisting such detonations, and claims that the US manufacturers are deliberately ignoring the safety of buyers.

Weather has been good, beer is terrific, folks are nice. Pacer's bored.

Just saw this in the news and remembered this thread about roofs - no other reason for posting. Will probably end up making some changes happen though, since the guy that died was an NFL player with money.

Ya know, NOBODY can make a car/truck "fatality-proof". We take RISKS when we get behind the wheel - people need to remember that.
