Re: The next Saturn Vue

Very well could be my next purchase if they'll add suicide doors so my wife can put the kids in the back seat...

Re: The next Saturn Vue

If they manage to capture 98% of the exterior and 90% of the interior of the concept, they should have a runaway hit. I hate vehicles like this, but this one seems dynamic and fresh.

The Antara concept “will be identical to the future Saturn Vue,” GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz said. “They can build it in a U.S. plant, and it will be identical.”

Does he really mean identical or something else? I didn't see a winky, but the reporter tht got the quote might have missed it. It could be a lot harderto catch a winky when it's not yellow and on the internet.

If it is identical (down to the interior), I will be extremely impressed.

Thats what I was thinking. It does quote Lutz saying it will be indentical, but you never know what else he said right before they start the quote. Like "Once we get a normal interior and make it a little more practical, it '"will be identical to the future saturn vue,"'

Opel suggests sporty future for crossover segment

By John McCormick / Autos Insider

Frankfurt, Germany - A design trend towards coupe-like roof lines was underscored last night with the unveiling of a new crossover concept from Opel, General Motors Corp.'s European division.

The Opel Antara GTC, a sporty, two-door, all-wheel drive crossover is the latest example of GM's move towards more emotional products around the globe, noted vice chairman Bob Lutz. "If you have to explain the styling, the vehicle will not be successful," he said. Lutz pointed to the existing Opel Astra GTC, Hummer H3 and Pontiac Solstice as "clear examples of new, less analytical, more emotional product."

Equipped with a 212-hp twin-turbo diesel engine, the four-seat Antara is an exaggerated version of a production model that will be launched in the last quarter of 2006, said Bryan Nesbitt executive director, GM Design Europe.

Based on GM's versatile Theta platform, which underpins the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent crossovers in the US, the production Antara will have smaller wheels than the 20-inch versions on the concept car and will come in four-door form.

However any changes for production will not water down the expressive character of the concept, said Mark Adams, GME exterior design director. "We are developing an inspirational family of the Opel designs," he added. "We're going to dial things up further."

The Antara joins other newcomers at the Frankfurt show with elements of coupe design. The Ford Iosis concept has a strikingly arched roof line for a four-door sedan, not unlike the Mercedes CLS luxury sedan launched last year. Another Frankfurt stunner with coupe pretentions is Citroen's C-Sportlounge, which presents a sleek station wagon/hatchback profile.

It looks like an Infinti FX, which isn't really a bad thing to me.
