next dodge charger
Sorry guys, but i thought that thing was ugly. Especially in comparison to the '99 concept, which I have always thought was a 10 from the first time I saw it. This one is too angular, and disjointed for my tastes esp in the c pillar and cowl areas. Something about the propotions arn't quuite right. Nothing personal, I just don't find it attractive at all. It needs more curves.
BTW, will they retune the hemi so its a more "car biased" (ie more hp than tq)? Maybe 390hp, 380tq?

A lot better Kris, the only thing I can see that appears out of proprtion is the grill, seems a little too tall...Other than that it looks like an evoltution of a Charger to me...
I like the body lines, good hints of the past, nice rounded angles, good stance, and you can definitely tell it's a Dodge..
They need to build a car like this, the Viper is out of range for the average buyer, and they have no other RWD V8 sports car...which a lot of Mopar fans are dying for...look at the V8 Dodge truck sales!..

Thats got the C6ish style rear fender line ending in the middle of the door. And a Cadillac Cien style hood. Its a Cadillettodge (pronounced: Kad-ill-a-odge) Charger
Very nice
great job!

Future Dodges
90rocz,
Thanks. I think Dodge will do will with the new Magnum, but stylistically, it's still a wagon. I took the current lineup (pre-2005) into consideration before I started the Charger and realized that they really didn't have a pony/sports car besides the SRT-4 for under 30K. I'm not saying they needed one, but I figured that it is quite possible that GM will not step up to bat in the pony car game again any time soon, (at least not with a Camaro the way it sounds right now,) so why not Dodge? I think it would be smart for Dodge to market a new, reasonably priced RWD V8 car. I'm not sure on the Magnum's pricing, but they could certainly do well by selling a hi-performance car for under 30K.
Ford is offering a RWD, V8 with over 300hp for around $25K. That's a tough act to follow and will certainly appeal to the younger crowd looking for some budget muscle.
Now take a look at Dodge's line. Picture a sporty 2-door Charger (not saying a 4-door is a bad idea, I just like coupes) sitting in a lot next to a new Mustang GT. The Mustang comes with the 4.6L (guessing,) 18" wheels, and all the bells and whistles. Next to it, the Charger has the 18" wheels, the nice look, and the kicker: a Hemi, all for about the same price as the Mustang. I think that Dodge would draw in close to half (if not more) of the buyers who would have sprung for the Mustang.
I have heard a lot of (younger) die-hard Chevy folks saying "If Chevy doesn't give us something worthwhile soon, I'm buying a new Mustang. It seems like a lot of people are just settling for a new Mustang because it is something new and attractive, not to mention a good deal.
While the Magnum is sporty, someone looking for a sporty car will not be attracted to it over a Mustang. Someone looking for practical but sporty, would lean more towards the Magnum.
I guess all this rambling leads to one point: Dodge should make the Charger. If and when (because it's almost inevitable) they do build it, it might be the final piece of the puzzle that will get Chevy to wake up and kick some butt.
Sorry for the endless nonsense, it's late...

I really wish that the LX platform was more accomodating to the proportions of the '99 concept car. I poked my head in the wheelhouses of a couple Magnums, and it's amazing how much room its double-wishbone front suspension takes up (they need to take a look at an older Honda Prelude to get an idea of how to cram a couple control arms, a strut, and a halfshaft into a very compact package). And of course the Hemi, as it comes out of the truck, is very tall and drives the height of the cowl (this appears to be the fault of the intake manifold).
Regardless, '06 should be an interesting year in the 'biz.

I like the 1999 Charger concept soooo much better. The new concept looks alright, just nowhere near as smooth looking as th old concept.

I just got the magazine the other day and that was the first thing I noticed.
While there are a couple of minor things I may change, overall I think it's great.
One thing I couldn't help but notice is that the coupe almost looks mid-engine from the side. Regardless, great work as usual!

looks like a 68 charger roof on a corvette body
It has no lines to it as said, and you would think that they could have changed the front of the car, it looks like a stratus with a billet grill and better headlights. The rear valance could be done better. I dont like the way dodge is heading with there styleing. The new, magnum looks like a spaceship, the hemi durango looks like a mess. I do like the looks of the SRT-10 even though it is way overpriced.
It could be done better, he should have taken cues from all years of the chargers and not put the stratus grill on there even though it wouldnt be as aero dynamic.
