New RWD Toyota/Subaru sport coupe

Gas mileage is decent. I think the WRX is rated at 20/27 which isn't the best but keep in mind it's a boxy AWD 3,200+lb sedan that'll run mid 5sec 0-60.
There's plenty of things i don't like about the WRX but the drivetrain isn't one of them.
Yes... I even thought about that before I posted but then decided to do it anyways.
But seriously... outside of lawyers and gearheads like us, WHO-THE-FLOCK is going to know the difference or care? If I were and WRX owner, I'd have my feathers ruffled over that comment. I've raced WRX cars and they are wicked-fast - especially on shorter tracks.
I think you goobers know what I mean.

Lots of people get wrapped around the axle with regard to two versus four doors.
Anyway, the original statement is correct. I guess the answer to your question depends on how many WRX owners think they're driving a coupe. I would have said "none", but who knows?
Would I, as a Camaro owner, get ruffled feathers over a statement that Chevy hasn't had a RWD performance sedan since 1996?
Answer: no

A shocking number of people - including several here - will discount the performance potential of any car that has more than two doors. You could, say, park an Eclipse GT next to a Lancer Evo X, and they'd pick the two-door over the four-door as the sportier of the two

LOL!!!

You are sooo right!
I even know some self-proclaimed gearheads that would be guilty or your scenario.
But would they qualify as a performance coupe? The top model we got in the U.S. was the 2.5 RS - no turbo was offered (although there was a turbo WRX version of those coupes in other markets).
The boxer warble is a nice sound. Not for everyone, but it grows on you. Especially when the car has a couple simple mods
Yes they would qualify as a performance coupe even though they weren't the fastest things ever.
I've always considered them more of a sporty coupe rather than a dedicated performance coupe. But I suppose the argument could be made that they were "performance" in that they were upgraded from a standard Impreza coupe. When I think of a performance coupe, I think more of a dedicated coupe model (not a 2 door sedan) with purely performance intentions, but it's all semantics.

As far as this Toyota/Subaru mashup, anyone who wants a cheap fun car with good gas mileage.
I said in my original thread that if they met the goals they were targeting, that I would buy it. Never the less, the goals were extremely unrealistic($12,250, 2250lbs)...
I'm thinking that's why it hasn't been referred to as it was in the beginning...

The gas milage is pretty bad for the HP numbers though.
They are fun to screw around with though. A turbo adds a whole new dimension to cheap extra HP.
Dan

But if they're aiming for a low price, it likely won't have that. But there's always the Lexus version.
