Let's look at holden since this is their creation. This platform is going to underpin the monaro replacement as well as a commodore. I know that this hasn't been confirmed, but who they kidding . That leaves us with the ute. The ute will be produced on whatever platform the monaro and commodore will built on which in this case is the VE.

Now we know that the next gto and monaro replacement (as well as a whole s@#^load of other cars) will be built off the same platform as they are now. In my last post i stated how i believe the next gto and camaro will be sister cars. Now let's expand the family tree. If the gto/monaro, camaro, and ute are all built off the same VE platform, the possibilities for america are endless. This means we can get the ute as a el camino. There can be a nomad crossover/station wagon vehicle. This is what i meant by flexibility being the main key to this platform. Since all of these cars can be built off this global platform, the range of vehicles for us americans are endless.

This is not to mention the possible spinoffs of the chevy cars.
How about a pontiac version of a nomad? Or el camino? The possibilities are endless. This is not even taking into account the possibilities for buick.

The OPEL concept is the just the beginning. This is the rebirth of gm that we've been waiting for.

Both these cars will be built on the VE platform with different traits. The camaro will be more of a performance car. The nest gto will be more of a premium gt in a sense. Again this is my opinion. The gto/monaro was just a guage to see public reaction before they start to build more performance oriented rwd cars. The next gto is the crystal ball which will allow us to guage how the next camaro will be. If this opel is a clue of the nest gto. It's gonna be friggin awesome.

The key to this platform is it's flexibility.
So correct in so many ways!

Ok....so, does this platform have a name?

Is this finally the sigma-lite that we have been refering to here for years now?

I don't know what it's "official" name will be....but "Sigma Mass" seems to be the name alot of people are using.

Ok, so i was thinking about this last night.
We may get a camaro (or at least know an answer) before 2007. What i gathered from the opel article is that they chose the VE (or sigma mass) because it was production ready.

Follow my thinking here for a minute. If the platform is production ready (or really really close), there has to be cars that are as close to production ready as the platform itself. Maybe we'll see a camaro concept earlier than previously thought

I been following this board for a while before i got the itch to start posting. It's been widely believed that we won't see a camaro concept before 2007. I'm now thinking camaro concept at the detroit autoshow in 2005 Possible production for 2006, a year earlier than expected. Maybe a concept this year, but i still seriously doubt it.

well not exactly.

From what I have heard from someone I wouldn't expect GM to use the "Camaro" name on anything till 06... so possibly we may see the concept called that at that show. At NAIAS 05 we might get to see the first car off this platform but I can't tell you what it is(It's NOT A CAMARO) there are plenty of hints on this forum to point you in the right direction though

the order of things were delayed from what I can tell and I don't think that the platform is "production ready" at all. I do know it will be a while before we see something for NA but keep your eyes peeled for concepts that don't have popular names
