Re: The new Impala. Bigger impact than Camaro.

I was never a fan of the second gen Camaro. That was the one gen that the Firebird definatly ruled!

I know this is an old thread, but whatever happened to this Impala guionM refers to? This was three years ago and now everyone is saying we wont see a new Impala till 2013, thats 7 years of developement!?!?

The Impala is described by everyone I've talked to as beautiful. Unlike the non descript character lines on the current Impala and the swishes that look like afterthought on the Malibu, the next Impala has sculptured sides that resemble Impalas of the mid 60s. Circular lights (perhaps even "squished" like Camaro's) adorn the rear. The front end has what's being described as the "NEW" Chevrolet front end.

The Impala he was referring to was the RWD Zeta-based Impala that was on the drawing board. It has since been scrapped.

This was back when we all had a little bit of hope for GM.

How sad, it would have been a great luxury/muscle car.

I think it looks great! As long as you don't think of it as a four door Camaro, and just recognize that Camaro and Impala simply share (rather, would have shared) a platform, it's fine. Chevrolets have always shared styling cues from model to model.

If it came out looking anything like that sketch, it would be very hard not to see it as a four door Camaro. Taking styling cues from one car to another is one thing, but that sketch just looks like a stretched Camaro with an extra door to me.
