Here's an idea. Make the car drop dead gorgeous and it won't need a big gaudy emblem. People WILL find out what it is. A small camaro emblem like on the 3rd and 4th gen cars is adequate.
BTW, Ford decided that the new Mustang is so recognizable to the general public, that it will not say "Mustang" on the car - only the running horse.

Besides... the running horse is the big honking gaudy emblem if you choose to look at it that way. I think it looks fine, but there no difference between the running horse, a Camaro emblem or a Chevy bowtie for that matter.
