That New Gold Bow-Tie & The 5th Gen.

Since Chevy has decided to use that shiney gold bowtie on everything do you think its right for a new Camaro?

Sometime last year I remember reading in Popular Mechanics magazine that Chevy had decided on a new bowtie logo to be used on all the new cars (except Corvette) and trucks.

I love the bowtie emblem, but I don't care for this big new gold one being on everthing. I think it looks good on trucks and certain cars. I don't think it should be on anything sporty. The only car that I can think of that hasn't gotten a gold bow-tie is the Monte Carlo SS, it still has a red bow-tie (I think). I think sporty cars or the SS line should have a bow tie that stands out more like the red bow-tie or color-keyed to the color of the car.

It should be the Red Outline. Although, other colors to contrast would be OK but only if it was limited to a few colors like red, black, white, and silver. The new one doesn't look right on sporty cars, I don't even like it on regular cars actually or even ads for Chevrolet. It only looks right on SUV's and whatever. 2 things the 5th Gen does not need is that emblem and that lousy bar to mess it up.

So, I voted:
-Red like the sportier cars use to have.

And would have also voted if I could:
-Accent color, something opposite of the Color of the Car ex: Car: Black, Bowtie: Silver.

I hope they listen.

some kind of chevy emblem should be on the car. the 4th gen didn't have anything tieing it to Chevy. just Camaro letters. and the worst offender of the 90's as far as being impossible to identify to the unknowing is the Impala. it just had that hard to see impala emblem and nothing else. and even then it doesn't nessesarily say "impala", could be anything similar looking like deer or gazel or whateverthef4ck. it's really arrogant/ignorant of GM to assume that everyone knows what cars it makes just by their shape. if I were to want to buy that impala but didn't know that it was made by chevy or its name, it would take more effort than it should to find it.

so yeah, defintely some kind of chevy emblem and camaro letters. this will help raise awareness.

All Chevrolet bowties are making the transitioon to Gold with a Silver outline.

Personally, I liked the red outline ones on the "sport" models, but they wanted a more consistant identity with the logo....

The Impala logo is the same from the 60's, and it does have a meaning:

Main Entry: im·pa·la
Pronunciation: im-'pa-l&, -'pä-
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural impalas or impala
Etymology: Zulu
: a large brownish African antelope (Aepyceros melampus) that in the male has slender lyrate horns

You can't say "Impala" more than by using an actual Impala...

Also, the Impala emblem has a bowtie at the bottom of it on the trunk, not to mention the big, stand alone bowtie on the front grille... and the Camaro emblem had a bowtie in it too, plus the big red bowtie on the rear on the Z28's ...

93-97 Camaros also had that big red bowtie between the fog lamps - not necessarily visible if you live somewhere that mandates front license plates; not to mention the one on the rear valence and the one in the Camaro logo on the hood. There was a silver outline bowtie smack in the middle of the grille on the Impala SS so it was hardly not identifiable as a Chevy.

My vote is for the red bowtie for sporty cars.... conformity be damned.

Unless you are a child of the late eighties or lived in a bell jar (:-) for the better part of the last 47 years, Impala and Chevrolet are pretty much as inextricable as Chevrolet and Corvette or Camaro with over 13 million Impalas being bought - not including the new FWD version. For that reason I would surmise that while there are people who can't make the connection between Chevrolet and the gazelle adorned car they are probably outnumbered by those that can.

Well, I voted for Red, but in reality I would be replacing it with some kind of billet piece. Looking at doing that very thing with our TrailBlazer's gold bowtie. The whole car is silver, except for that damn gold bowtie.... U-G-L-Y

Here's a vote for brand identity...

Keep it the same general appearance as all the other cars and trucks.

I'd like to see the Z28 changed to Z/28. And it should say Camaro by Chevrolet like the good old days.
