Re: New Civic SI

Still has the inoffensive Honda (and Toyota) look of "blandness" to it . But I'm sure it's a decent car for daily driving duties.

God, what boring styling. That look would have fit in around 15 years ago.
I'd rather have the cobalt ss.

What a surprise, ol' Threxy prefers the foreign one. I'm just wondering how you'd know for sure which one you'd prefer when your closest experience with the Honda has come from simply looking at the same pictures we're seeing.

You might ask the same people who say they'd rather have a Cobalt. I don't see you questioning them.

Personally I was simply giving my opinion of it based on looks, assumable resale value, and assumable reliability.

Obviously I haven't driven the Civic yet, but I have driven a Cobalt (not the SS, though) and prefered the way the previous-gen Civic drove.

Plus while the nav system in the Civic looks bad, my next car is going to require nav, period.

I dig it for what it is.

Cobalt SS > Civic Si > Regular Cobalt

Re: New Civic SI

That dash is the biggest favor Honda has ever done for GM. If that's the dash for the entire Civic lineup, then.... That speedometer is pure tragedy.

That quote actually isn't from me, but a car guy friend at work. We were looking at it in the new C&D at lunch today. At Banknorth, its unanimous...that car is ugly as ****. Regardless, it will still sell because it has the H on the nose.

Re: New Civic SI

That torque spec is awful. How's 139 lb-ft @ 6200 rpm strike you? Their new tag line should be "Another drive it like you hate it vehicle.....Only from Honda!"

I'm guessing this thing is not going to be the most friendly daily driver. Yeah, the hp number is great for an N/A 2.0l 4 banger, but that little torque that high in the rpm band?!? That better be one hell of a flat torque curve.

Yeeeeah... just because it has an H on the nose.

That car is a big improvement over the old civic.

People critisize the import brands for looking too conservative, then they critisize them for looking to 'odd'. Make up your mind or just admit that you will critisize their looks regardless of what they come up with. The interior on that new civic looks FAR better than the Cobalt IMO.

I'd still much rather have the Cobalt's motor (the SS supercharged version), but just looking at the interior I'd take the regular civic over the regular cobalt no doubt.

Re: New Civic SI

Threxx,
I think its ugly as ****. The car is odd, and I don't like it. Period. It went from dull to ugly. BFD. It also makes zero torque...something kind of crucial in an engine.

Keep up your own personal circle jerking for the imports though

Re: New Civic SI

And what the HELL looks better about that interior over a Cobalt???? Sorry, just read that. To each their own I guess, but that dash with that asinine speedo and tach arrangement is putrid...
