I would love to see them start to re-introduce the classic names on appropriate cars. For an ultra-luxury sedan, why not "Brougham"?

What would you call the BOSE bling-bling edition? The Fleetwood Mac with Cheese?

Except that the Fleetwood was a RWD car with the LT1, and would run mid- to high-15s in the quarter. And don't pick on burgundy B-bodies with vinyl roofs and wire-wheel hubcaps, lest they be my wife's Roadmaster

Anyways, I'm fully in agreement with Pacer that this new beast deserves a "real" Cadillac name. It's always seemed such a shame that Caddy gave up its good names just at the time when its product could properly live up to the brand's history. I'm not so much in agreement with the perceived need to taint a Cadillac thread with a lame dig at Toyota

I think it wasn't a dig at Toyota but more an example of how an acronym can tarnish the image of a vehicle. At least that's my take on that.
I've even heard little kids read the "TRD" on trucks at parking lots and laugh, calling it a TuRD...
I agree Fleetwood or Brougham, or Fleetwood-Brougham, would better fit an uber-luxo model, but also something like the XLS (Extreme Luxury Sedan) fits their current designations...

I wouldn't want to see ANY old Cadillac model name brought up again. It would be a disaster in my opinion.

Cadillac is doing a fantastic job changing its image and to bring up the old names would bring back the feelings that Cadillac is the car for AARP members again.

I don't see a problem resurrecting the Heritage names....IF....they redifine in today's terms, what the name means...today.
No old style lettering, landau tops etc...MODERN/Luxury...Cadillac has always been the Inovators, and I hope they continue to be.

I think Caddy will have to wait a generation or two before they can safely migrate back to classic nameplates. As folks here have mentioned, the mental association for those of us who were around when those nameplates were still being used is largely not positive and would take a lot of PR legwork to erase.

Of course they could always take a tip from the Robocop playbook and call it the "6000 SUX."

The mid 90's Cadillac Fleetwoods were all RWD and LT1 powered.

This just surfaced out of the my gray matter ....

IIRC Cadillac specifically went to the Alpha names so that it had to be identified as a Cadillac *** instead of being referred to as a Fleetwood, DeVille, Eldorado etc.

As long as the Alpha system makes sense, I have no problem with it.

Why not XLS? Or ZLS? Or any multitude of combinations that doesn't have a U in it?
