I'll probably hear from Doug again about this. Sorry dude.

Let me be right up front - I have no problem stating that I am basically clueless about the inner workings of the auto industry. I have never said nor implied anything to suggest otherwise, and would not pretend to be anything else. I am basically an enthusiasts and a racer (not the internet or magazine kind).

He (I assume Pacer is a he?) may be the worlds foremost expert in all this stuff. Good for him.
I'll address this in a diplomatic manner.

1) I am not the world's foremost expert on anything... expect for maybe parking brakes.... which isn't saying much.

2) Because of what I do now, and my position, it is my business to know what is coming, what it will look like, and when it will hit.

3) I'll tell folks here what I can. Some of it HAS TO remain quiet, and I'm not letting on everything. RP can appreciate my position on this - he's under even tighter constraints than I am.

4) Things change with lightning speed in the industry sometimes. I was dead sure I knew where a certain car was being produced in 2006, and now I think I'm wrong about that. The content on this particular car is somewhat shocking in some cases... but it is possible some of that will change anyway... which is why it won't be disclosed, along with the fact that a certain, rather large, automaker might have me shot at dawn if I did.

5) It IS safe to say that GM is making a tremendous investment in powertrains, and that folks like RP KNOW that their car MUST out-perform ANY Mustang Ford decides to build. Dave Hill knows the same thing. Had the conditions been right for the GMX-320 to have turned into the 2003-ish Camaro, it would have been packing SERIOUS heat to deal with Cobras. Bet your life on that. Alas, it didn't work out completely, and GMX-320 didn't become the new Camaro. BUT, MAKE NO MISTAKE about the fact that folks at GM knew they were going to have to design that chassis to take horsepower levels with a "5" as the first digit. The next one will be no exception.

6) The true rumor-mill stuff, like 750hp twin turbocharged V-12's, actually has SOME basis to it. You can do a search and find it.

I have no problem with the content of that post. In fact, I'd like to highlight one quote in particular:

4) Things change with lightning speed in the industry sometimes.
This is a perfect example of why I think talking in what I call "absolutes" is not prudent (diplomatic term).

As far as what GM will and won't do...I will continue to read what is posted here, draw my own conclusions, remark on them when desired, and make my own final judgement when those things do or do not happen.

I'll thank you not to attempt to educate me on "prudence" or anything else.

If I wish for advice, you won't be the source.

Wow - I can't even make an attempt at being nice to you before you go off. That statement was made with sincerity and without any hint of sarcasm or anything else. Suppose I won't make the attempt any more.

You have issues - and my pity.

Have a nice day.

1) Bob, attempts at decorum don't generally include the boorishly arrogant assumption that your counterpart in a discussion needs some earth-shattering insights from you as to what is or is not prudent. I don't choose to argue with you about naval matters like appropriate metacentric height for a warship and its relation to survivability... especially since I'm just a layman with an internet connection, a decent library, and a boat...

2) My wife says I have issues too. I have to sleep with her. You, on the other hand, are just another "car expert" with a keyboard. I hope you'll understand that I'll choose to concentrate on keeping her happy instead of cowering beneath your titanic ego. Lord knows I'd probably be up all night worrying about what you think of me if I didn't...

3) Pity attempts to imply yet another position of superiority. How do you fit that head of yours through a hatch?

4) I will have a nice day. Thank you for your genuine concern as to my happiness. Lord knows, I need you to tell me which joyous moments to sieze, just like I need your advice on "prudence"... as you so diplomatically put it.

your titanic ego
Shew...talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I give up. I made an honest attempt at positive, constructive dialogue. Didn't work.

And I still feel sorry for you. Have fun.

Gosh scott9050, I guess I keep striking the right chord! Truth hurts doesn't it Mr. hijacker. And, as bad as I hate to keep this little arguement going, you just make it too easy for me. You see, only a fool would assume that because I have only 142 posts that I have no clue what's going on here. If you had bothered to look, you'd see I've been on this board for over 3.5 years. I actually read the 5th gen section quite often but don't always have the opportunity to post. It's much quicker and easier to read these threads than type out a lengthy reply to a pesky little flea like yourself. My profession as a civil engineer in a consulting firm means I'm usually busy staying billable designing and managing projects. My wife and young children occupy most of the rest of my time. So, if your career and life afford you the opportunity to play on the internet all day long to the tune of 14 bazillion posts that's great. Just don't assume my low post count means I don't know what's going on in here.

It's pretty sad when Red Planet has to jump in and admit that he get's frustrated with some of the things you anti-GM types spew off in here. That, in a nut shell, is why I bother wasting time on you. Obviously, he and PacerX know what they're talking about whether you guys like it or not. I have read enough in here to make me totally share their frustrations.

I certainly do not need the help of Frezza or Debbler to deal with a clown like you. Besides, everyone here can clearly see you for who you are and what you're all about. The speaker at the "Workplace Relationships" seminar my company attended recently would refer to you as a "terrorist". Ouch! Sounds fitting, though, since you continually terrorize threads in this forum.

Here's an fun idea......why don't you, your buddy Bob(Bill)Cosby, and the other terrorists direct some of your nay-saying skills on an import board somewhere. We're tired of it in here!

Oh, one last thing.....I'm not going to bother zipping up my flame suit. Fire back if you like but you will not get another response from me. I've wasted enough time on you already.

'nuff said.

No, you just sound like a 13 year old newbie who has nothing better to do than to be so brand biased that you **** Chevy emblems. I call them as I see them.

And I have been here for 5 years, Bob and Snorman longer. I read this board for 6 months before that. Quit stroking your ego, it impresses no one but yourself. As far as anyone being a fool, all you have to do is look in a mirror. I hate brand biased choads.

LMAO, the biased choad came up with a name, I'm impressed. I've been here longer than you, I will be here after you. It's snot nosed little twerps like you that have always come through the cracks on this site to act like total imbeciles. Thanks for keeping up the tradition.

Oh, the choad wants to bring my post count into it because he can't come up with anything better. How pathetic is this? You DON'T know half the stuff you think you do, if you did you would see that the Ford guys here own more than just Fords. I have owned over 30 GM products, how about yourself?
Oh, and as far as me, I am working on a sociology degree to go with the bachelors I already have in Criminal justice. After that I am going to law school. I am married and have a 9 year old daughter. I put my wife through divinity school at Duke University for her Masters, after my first degree, by working in a prison for several years. I made that sacrifice in my education so that my wife could get hers. Now that she is in the process of becoming an ordained minister, I took the opportunity to get a second degree in preparation for law school. Being in school, I have access to a computer most of the day. I could care less if this in your high and mighty position likes this or looks down on this or not. I used to handle snots like you daily, it's nothing new.

It's pretty sad when Red Planet has to jump in and admit that he get's frustrated with some of the things you anti-GM types spew off in here.

I think he was frustrated at some of the imbecilic comments by people like you. As I said, if you have a problem with me then take it up with Debbler or take it to e-mail. Since you have been here for so long you should know that. If you would like, I can arrange a meeting in person for you to tell me how much of a "flea" I am.

That, in a nut shell, is why I bother wasting time on you. Obviously, he and PacerX know what they're talking about whether you guys like it or not. I have read enough in here to make me totally share their frustrations.

According to others, PacerX has been wrong in most of his predictions. If you care to keep your nose firmly planted up his ***, then feel free to do so, but don't knock anyone else who disagrees.

I certainly do not need the help of Frezza or Debbler to deal with a clown like you.

Don't say anything behind the safety of a keyboard that you would not say to my face man to man. I hate internet toughguys who spew out garbage they would never do in person.

Besides, everyone here can clearly see you for who you are and what you're all about. The speaker at the "Workplace Relationships" seminar my company attended recently would refer to you as a "terrorist". Ouch! Sounds fitting, though, since you continually terrorize threads in this forum.

I have been a contributing member of this site for a long long time. Have you ever contributed money to a member in need? I did twice to Ellis and Steph and Backinblack, both F-body owners. The only terrorist here is you, someone hijacked your tiny little mind and flew it into the sh!tter.

Here's an fun idea......why don't you, your buddy Bob(Bill)Cosby, and the other terrorists direct some of your nay-saying skills on an import board somewhere. We're tired of it in here!

*yawn*

Which is the idiots way of trying to get the last word. Maybe one day when you grown a pair you can come up with a better comeback. To say the least I am disappointed.

Ok guys, this public chest-beating is getting rediculous. If you HAVE to have the last word, can you do us all a favor and take it to PM's?

I come to this forum to read new car news, and pointless bickering does nothing but take up my time, and I know it's the same with a lot of other people.

I know I don't HAVE to read what you say, but unfortunately I do HAVE to read through it to try and find useful information.

I'm not joining sides with any party, I just want to ask a favor of you gents on my behalf and the behalf of others who come here seeking info, please keep it to PM's, or the lounge.

Thanks

I see that you still have no idea what Bob does in the Navy, do you? He is a meteorologist. The man is quite educated and well respected not only on this board but several others. No one is saying that you are not, but your little rant in the other post brought all of this on. We all have our opinions, and since this is a PUBLIC message board we have a right to them just as well as you. The issue here has not been GM doing well. I would love to see GM come out with everything that you describe. It is the fact that when Steve brought up numbers from the GT everyone had to jump in and state how every GM product in the future will kick it's ***. That made everyone who did so look like brand biased yahoos, and that dictated a response from people with different opinions. This is the way that I see it.

No, Bob has just been in a ton of magazines since 1988 and was one of the founders of the 5.0 movement. Last time I saw Bob in a magazine was earlier this year. The man is a relative drag racing expert and has been recognized as such by multiple sources in print. Bob is very down to earth except when people act disrespectful to him. I suggest you check out some of his posts on the Corral where he is a moderator. Bob's father also passed away this past week, so in light of this I have been surprised with his restraint toward you. I respect him for being that way.

That's is what I requested in my next to last post, e-mail me. This thread was hijacked by the GM faithful who had to keep the now closed thread by Steve going in violation of the rules of this board. It was closed for a reason, and there is no reason to have had it continue here.
