Alot of that doesn't square with what's been posted or what I've heard. Examples:

*It will have an Automatic only. The Charger is due to have a manual with the "super" hemi. In fact, unless I'm mistaken, the super Hemi will have a manual only.

*He claims the car (with upgrades) handles like a pig, yet the cushy-tuned 300C is winning great reviews on it's abilities, despite it's 2 ton weight.

*The fact the poster says "once all the bugs are worked out it will go into the Charger". This alone tells me that the poster is full of s*it by sacks full. Why?

1. Name one actual engineer or vehicle development employee who believes that something with bugs will be put into a production car? He'd rather swallow cynide because this is a reflection of his work and the company.

2. What complete clueless moron is going to test an engine on IT' TOP MODEL and THEN bring it out on a car lower on the totam pole.

There is a SRT based 300C on deck, but it is still about a year away... roughly the same time as we can expect the Charger. It's NOT going to get worse mileage than the 10 cylinder, 500 horse Viper.

I suspect this person doesn't work with the guys developing the cars, and is taking some small bits he heard (likely from other people on the internet) and adding his own make believe 2 cents worth, and passing it on as the truth.

Think I'll visit that site.

10mpg...

Listen...

Can you guys hear it...

It's the sound...

The sound of regulations coming to nix the horsepower war in the name of American Soldiers and Foreign Oil.

And if that ain't enough, the insurance boys will be lobbying for CAFE and safety legislation to kill these 1000hp monsters in their tracks.

MARK MY WORDS.

I think SUVs are in the crosshairs for the immediate future.

The only thing I see regarding cars is insurence industries putting the brakes on modifying them.

I am sure DCX would install the MDS to bring up the mpg. CAFE would kill the sales of a car with high volume aspirations. (Viper and Ram Srt10 need not apply because of niche vehicle status)

Yeah, but think about it Guy...
Why are the SUV's in the crosshairs right now? GAS MILEAGE.
They are perceived as huge, bulky, wasteful gas-hogs.
If we start throwing out a slew of 12-15mpg cars - they will get the wrath too IMO.

Another thing I hope folks understand is that the insurance companies have quite a bit of lobbying power on capitol hill.
They throw a few million $ behind some campaign this summer, and their boys get elected, you can expect to see some changes in policies as soon as next year.
Politics...

A big reason trucks have bad milage is areodymanics and gearing. A 4 cly. Jeep is lite as hell but gets bad milage compared to a car of the same weight.

I don't think we will see any 12-15mpg cars mass produced cars anytime soon, mostly due to CAFE. The only 12-15mpg cars on the market now are high price niche cars like Ferarris and Rolls Royces.
