More 2004 Caprice pic

If you want me to speculate:
1. Chevrolet brings out the full sized Caprice, identical to what's being sold in the Middle east (based on Holden's Statesman), as a full sized luxury car for Chevrolet (something Chevrolet is sorely lacking).
2. A couple of years later, Chevrolet redoes the Impala on a shorter Caprice Chassis (ie: Holden's Commodore is a shortened Statesman/ Caprice) at a higher volume, using many of Caprice's body pieces with a different look.
Again, I'm just guessing.

Chevy USA needs the Caprice. The current impala and it's SS and 9C1 versions aren't bad, but they are too slow for LEO duty. They can't keep up with the sport compact cars offered today, much less my mildly modded stock engine 8 year old Impala SS
Plus, isn't it kinda obvious that wagons are making a comeback? Check out the Mopar camp. Heck, the Malibu Maxx is a wagon. Why not offer a large 5 door Caprice wagon here? Then, if guionM's #2 comes true, why not do a Nomad version with 3 doors (or 3 plus 2 sliding doors a la the 99 Nomad or that new I think Opel concept?)

Impala's problem isn't speed (it's actually quicker than the Crown Victoria). The problem is it's FWD, which isn't friendly for high speed handling Highway Patrols (or state police) do.
But I agree, Chevrolet NEEDS the Caprice.

The pics. that were taken from a mid-eastern Chevy dealer, the pic. of the rear of the car, it looks like the Caprice has a Impala emblem. Its kind of fussy but I am pretty sure that is what it is.
Oh well, the '94-'96 ImpalaSS was sold over there as a Caprice SS and the ImpalaSS emblems remained on the cars.

It's not like this Caprice has breakthrough styling or anything... quite the contrary... it blends in with just about everything else and becomes background noise... which is just fine when it comes to a car like this... but I just don't see people lining up down the street to get their hands on one.
It'll sell... I don't knwo that it'll steal a ton of Ford loyalists away, unless it is just packed with features for a super-cheap price that undercuts Crown Vic by several thousands...

I think alot of people want a car like this from Chevy again. And I think it will be undeniably better than it's competition which already has a lousy rep. This car dominated the market for big RWD V8 sedans once before and I think it'll happen again if brought back. I think it would be a great alternative or daily driver for a Camaro owner that doesn't intend on driving their 500HP 5th Gen Z28 all the time.
There is a "SS" version coming that will be more aggresive looking. The previous Caprice SS ('00-'03) had 325hp. I don't know what the '04 will be rated at, maybe the same as the GT0. Also the SS will be available with a 6-speed manual.
