GTO, I test drove both and would have payed more that that to get what the GTO has over the mustang.

A lot nicer interior, the Mustangs interior just says cheap. The GTO's is well thoughtout (except the climate control) and very detailed (stiching in shifter and steering wheel). Has a 21st century suspension. Not the same rear axle found on the car it looks too much like from 40 years ago, not the same power output and 5 speed it had in the 90s. The extra power doesn't hurt.

I wont change the GTO haters minds I know, but at least I get to say what I think.

2. Personally, I like 2+2 seating because it discourages all but the most determined of unwanted backseat passengers. For some of us, true 4-passenger seating is actually a major inconvenience.
Where was it said we drove into the dealer with the kids or in Big SUV? We were kidless, didn't own a SUV at the time. It was just me and my wife, along with loose car seats. It was the salesman, mid 20's, that took us to a location where we could ring through the gears.

The 2+2 seating in the mustang is more like 2+1.5. My 5'3" wife sitting in the back seat had to make major concessions with her short legs to accommodate the front seat back, that to me isn't true 2+2 seating. For some of use the rear seating is a must have, can't leave the kids home by themselves, true 2+2 seating is a must.

Stripper Mustang GT vs Loaded GTO....hrm.
And I assume this is the 05 GTO vs 05 Mustang? Cause the 04's can be had at 25-27, depending on who you know, what you have to offer, and how bad the dealer wants to get rid of them.
In that case, 100hp more, MUCH BETTER looks, ride and fit/finish, along with better brakes and leather standard...
GTO, duh.

Well you post this on a GM site and wonder which way the poll will go From recent articles on how well the new GTs respond to simple mods for around 10 grand less Id go GT all the way....A reflash and some 430's will probably having it running head to head w/ the new GTO w/ far less hp

Considering this is a GM site I'm surprised to see the results pretty much neck and neck, 44-46 in favor of the GTO. But still, this is the GM fan site.

I voted Mustang? Why? Because for the money, it gives me more of what I want. Plus I really like the look if it, inside and out. I'm a youngin' and I want an eye catcher, and the GTO is not that car.

Plus, I could reasonably afford 27k, and 34k is a bit beyond my reach.

There must be a 5th column within the ranks on this board because the GTO is winning with only a vote right now. Disatisfaction for a company or love for a hardy breed that keeps galloping on? You decide...

Like I said earlier, I am stunned that GTO is even close on this board, because we have so many vocal GTO haters here.

It'd be interesting if a more fair comparison, price wise, was represented, instead of the base Mustang GT at $25k... it would obviously be more fair to list the Mustang price around $28-30k (didn't look up an exact number) to represent optioning it out to more closely represent an equal offering when considering all the equipment that is standard on the GTO.

true the only options are teh 6 speed and the port package appearance
GTO for me

ppl dont appreciate the gto b/c they want it to be like the old style , gm plans ws anotto make it a sports car, but a sports sedan , hell if u dont like it thats ur opinion , but sports sedan or not it still fat , great styling (mostly 05) interior looke really nice and has an awesome engine and power

new mustang is ugly imho, 300hp is ok(underrated or not) but camaros have been doing more than that for a while now

I agree, the premium package with leather would be closer to what a GTO is ant that Mustang would be $28-29K

Im pretty sure last week's daily "GM sucks and so do people who like any product made by them" threads should have removed any doubt that there are a lot of people who do not like GM on this board.

I voted for the GTO. I do kinda like the new Mustang but given the choice, even if the alternative is a little more expensive, I'd have to go with the Goat. Yeah, it gives up a little in visual impact but overall I'd still pick the Goat as is.

The reason it's so close is because the M*stang is closer to the Camaro in category and costs less than a GTO.
