Malibu sales are up 60% so far this year!!!
http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_...eries_0305.xls
Malibu sales are up 60% so far this year vs. the same time in 2004, Chevy Classic (old Malibu) sales are up 5.9% this year.
Just imagine how much better the Malibu could do if they offered 17" rims and a 240HP V6 like Nissan and Honda do, or maybe that 1.9L Diesel from Europe that is already in the Epsilon platform
The car looks so much better with some nice 17" rims 17" pic #2

Re: Malibu sales are up 60% so far this year!!!
Since gas prices are about to spike again, the 1.9L Diesel would be a huge plus. I think a Deisel Malibu would crush the Jetta and Golf Deisel sales.
I agree a spiffy set of 17's and a high output V6 in the Malibu Maxx would be a great package for younger buyers.

Re: Malibu sales are up 60% so far this year!!!
All I gotta say is the backsteat of the Malibu Maxx is literally AMAZING with the amount of room you get... Two very big and tall people can sit very comfortably back there on long road trips.
I joke with my wife if I get her a Malibu Maxx, she'll have to agree to always chauffeur me around while I chill in the back and watch tv and play vid games..

G6 & Grand Am combined sold 13,026 for Feb vs. 11,192 for the Grand Am last year. If the G6 was named Grand Am then people would be saying wow, Grand Am sales are up 16%
Buick LaCrosse seems to be doing well too, people forget that is is selling along side 2004 model centurys/Regals. LaCrosse sales for Feb. are higher than Century/Regal in Feb. 04

I mentioned some similar numbers in another thread.
I found the numbers interesting, because a lot of these cars are being slammed right now.
Re: Malibu sales are up 60% so far this year!!!
Good stuff. Good to hear about the Malibu but the G6 doesnt surprise me. The G6 is actually a really nice car, its just getting people into the dealership to check it out...

Feb 2004 GTO sales (04 model only): 606
Feb 2005 GTO sales (04 & 05 models): 988
Feb 2005 GTO sales (05 model only): 670
Feb 2005 GTO sales (04 model only): 318
One could look at those numbers any number of ways (pardon the pun). However, in Feb 2004, there was only one model year available (2004), and as we all know, many dealers were marking them up (a lot). Most 2005s seem to be going for at or near MSRP, and 2004s are typically heavily discounted.
And BTW...I'm rooting for the GTO to succeed.

Also, something to consider, is that the 2005 GTO got here very late as opposed to other 2005 model vehicles, so take that for what it is worth as well...
We'll see how it goes, my guess is the sales will be in line with projections now...
Re: Malibu sales are up 60% so far this year!!!
The Grand Prix numbers are kind of startling...50% plus decrease....
I wonder why....
Maybe the G6 is stealing some sales since when you factor in rebates, they sell for similar prices.

And incase a certain young buyer wanted to buy aftermarket rims, its so nice that there are SOOOO many applications for 5x110 spacing

1) Chevy is affriad the car might look a little too "cool" and wants to keep people 35 y/o and under people away from it.
2) GM get royalties on 16" tire sales.

If that person does some calculations on G6 plus incentives, then looks at the window sticker of the Grand Prix, the G6 is going to look like a better bargin.
