It looks as though there are people on that board with absolutely no knowledge of the world outside BMW.

Well they seem to be more open minded. Sure Many of them have high priced BMW's but they still know the value of HP per dollar. The Monaro/GTO is a better bang for the buck. And they know the LS1 is a stout motor no matter what car it rides in.

Its more the response I'd expect from this board except for every GM lover here we have a hater who posts more. Sure the car has its shortcommings but don't they all. I give GM props for even bringing the car here. I remeber back in 2000-01 when lots of magazines noticed the Holden Commadore, Ute antd then the Monaro. They all asked as did many die hard GM fans why we didn't get cars like that here. Well now its comming and people are still complaining!

Well the GTO is going to be marketed towards those buyers. This is a good thing.

So what, some Aussie bought his wife a Monaro? I agree that this car is entirely "wife worthy." I could have said the same thing about a Volga (yes, that is a car) if the guy had been a Russian.

Yeah! But what happens if the squirrels decide to invade Eritria on Tuesday?

BMW M5 owner likes the Monaro. Says he can make it silly fast for much less than his Bayerisch Mist-Wagen.

Pretty good praise from the darkside if you ask me.

Exactly, and I bet most of them will at least look at one before they buy another bmw. Some will probably choose the gto after a test drive and a price compare.

Hmm, maybe a few of them may consider buying a GTO, but I don't think it would be as a replacement for a $75k 4 door M5.

Now, it would be interseting to have it compared to the upcoming 6 series coupe..

the DarkSide
The LS1 is a great motor, and candy is great when you are a child. But later in life, you develope a tatse for caviar.

That does not mean that, you'll never eat candy again. You will always enjoy a small amount, but caviar becomes your true passion.
I think I catch your drift there, something like...

F-body Positives: Cheap, straightline performance, and t-tops
F-body Negatvies: Cheap, rattely(sp?), squeaky, interiors, and flexy frame.

Dark Side Positives: Same Straight-line perforance, with a ride and handling advantage. Nothin' but the best
Dark Side Negatives: Price Tag

However, my opinion of caviar as a food=
(im 17 btw )

Candy = taste good, resonably priced

Caviar = tastes like ****, over priced, not worth what it costs.
