What exactly does it mean to "keep it American"? I like Holden's and BMWs more than Malibu's and Taurus's. I'd rather see GM take the best ideas for where ever and mold them into class leading products that dominate the respective markets they are in. America = melting pot, free markets and capitalism will weed out inferior products and business models.
