Re: LS2 in solstice

I had already made up my mind that I would be purchasing a Saturn Sky as long as it lived up to expectations when it hits the showroom. I certainly won't wait for GM to do anything about the powertrain. After I get bored after 6 months of driving it, you can bet that a current V8 will get shoehorned in there as long as it will fit. then we'll know what works and what breaks.

The LS2 and the Ecotec are supposed to be fairly the same size.. Yes the CTS-V rear will be used.. And the Saturn Sky will result in better times with it's autostick trans (rumored with up and down gear selections on the steering wheel) and Traction Control.. GM will not offer a v-8 solstice or Sky.. but Mallet will and I hear the conversion is slated to cost 12K...

Ugly is subjective! I like em' both. Damn anyone remember the old V8 Vega rockets, or better yet ever ride in one? That is pretty sweet!

Re: LS2 in solstice

Hrrrm.....$12k sounds very, very low.....

I'd say the swap would take $12k in parts alone. Between the engine, wiring, exhaust, rear end, clutch, tweaked suspension, engine cradle, etc.... I have a hard time believing Mallet will hand you the keys for $12k over stock even if they were to pass along savings realized by selling off leftover, unused stock pieces.... I wonder how strong that Aisin trans. is....?

I'd guess over $20k, out the door with you only having to sign on the dotted line....

That said, I'd LOOOVE to have one ....
