<--------- Putting 2 and 2 together.

Heard some interesting comments about this scenario from interesting sources quite a while back. Hmmm, makes for some interesting implications.

Let's see what rear axle they use in this thing first. I'm guessing the stock Solstice/Sky rear axle won't suffice. If it does... ???? ... maybe the Nomad got dropped for another reason.

I would guess they would use the upgraded CTS-V rear end. The standard Kappa uses the 'basic' CTS unit.

Re: LS2 in solstice

I wouldn't bet on Mallet being able to do the conversion for only $10-12K.

But I'd bet that GM could do the conversion for about, uh . . . FREE if they wanted to. (And still charge 5-8K more for the car).

BTW: Corvette roadster starts at $52,245.

They would never do a V8 Sky or Solstice because it would intrude on Vette territory. I also doubt they could do it for FREE, but I'm sure it wouldn't cost them more than $5,000. Then they could charge $10,000 more than the base car and still be out ahead.

Wow...that is just wonderful.

Who wouldn't want a 400 horsepower 2900 lb roadster for 34-35k?

I was thinking more the 5.3 and $5-8K more. Who wouldn't buy a $25-28K 300 HP V8 roadster over a Miata, Z4, or SLK? That's a hell of a compelling proposition.

And as far as assault on the Corvette icon--pleeze! If GM had any *****, they wouldn't care. They'd just do the best product at the best price, rather than limiting themselves because "it can't be as good as Corvette (gasp)!

I wonder if a person can read between the lines in this thread.

That would be a killer combo for that car.
