Mallett Cars To Build V8 LS2 Powered Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky
Mallett Cars, Ltd. has announced their next venture: the V8 powered Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. These 2 seater roadsters will be powered by the LS2 V8 engine that is currently used in the C6
Should make a pretty sweet track car. I wonder what the price will come to.

Re: LS2 in solstice
Why didn't General Motors do this? Even the 5.3 would have made this car a no-brainer.
BTW: 2.4 Ecotec is about 270 lbs, LS1 is about 390 lbs ==> weight distribution isn't going to an issue in a 2800-lb car.

Re: LS2 in solstice
I'm thinking it'll be within a hundred or so lbs of the c6. Given that the Ls2 weighs 120lbs over the 2.4 ecotec and given the structural bracing, etc.... needed to make the car cope with all the added hp/tq of the Ls2, it'll most likly make its way into the 3,000lb's easily unless they take the weight off other areas.
Still, if they can pull this off for under 10-12k, it would be a hell of a ride and still represent a good value. Cheapest v8 roadster available now is the corvette and the convertible version of it goes or 57k i believe. Imagine if Mallett can deliver this for 35k or less (price of a Honda s2k). That'd be something.
Kinda reminds me of the monster miatas (5.0 powered). Of course they were lighter, but the standard 225hp 5.0 was good enough to get them into the 12's. Amazing.
Any guesses on how fast this Ls2 Solstice will be?
