Anyone notice in Tom's quote.... "Camaro/Firebird". Of course the combination of Camaro/Firebird is not coming back; this we already know.

Am I the only one who thinks that this article might have been a bad idea?

I was saying the same thing last week. Bad idea? Not exactly. Bad timing? It may at least be a little premature.

I'll say this much... it the Chevy coupe ends up being called "Chevelle", you'll know who to blame.

I don't think RED would keep telling us to keep the faith if there was nothing going on...

All though there was really no new information to those that frequent this site, I have to say I had a grin on my face through the entire article. I have been waiting for someone in the press to call GM's bluff on this topic for like 3 years now. Later, the more I thought about it, the more I wondered if the timing for this was really bad and may hurt the situation. It might force GM to play their hand prematurely.

I was hoping some our resident insiders might give some indication about what kind of buzz, if any, this article has created within GM.

One other comment: GM really needs to decide what they are going to name this car before they release the design. This concept clearly screams 1st Gen Camaro. If GM builds a car that looks like this, is targeted as a mustang competitor, comes in at a Camaro price, then it has to be named Camaro. Anything else would be a huge mistake. If they are going to name it Chevelle or something else, then they need to start over and make it look like anything but a Camaro.

I don't believe anyone is scrambling and I think the article did no one any favors.

Re: It looks like GM is scrambling because of PHR's story

I thought the same thing when they started that thread on guessing the code name for the car. I feel like any of us who know anything about the car were probably told in confidence, for our own re-assurances or just as a courtesy for being a loyal customer.

If we respect the wishes of our "informants", we shouldn't bring it up, not even to say "I know something!". The way I look at it, nothing good will come from this information getting out, but there is some potential for something bad. If we do nothing at all, we get a car in 3 years. If we f up and say something we shouldn't, PHR or somebody will run a story on it and it will get out all over the country, and possibly lead to problems w/ GM and the CAW, and COULD affect the name, or even the car itself.

Honor your sources' wishes...loose lips sink ships

Re: It looks like GM is scrambling because of PHR's story

If the car is really as far along in its developement as we think there is no way this article will stop GM from building this car. They are building a 2 dr V8 Chevy performance car because they made a business case for one. At worst it could change the name of the car. No biggie this site gets to hung up on names.....**a-hem GTO**

Just give us a cool RWD V8 2+2. You can call it the Chevy Turd burgler for all I care.
