Kid Rock & The ZR1
The common approach that I've read to this post is that it is "wrong" for the Corvette ZR-1 to be on the same stage as Kid Rock.
Guess what.
You have to see Kid Rock before you can say anything. Did anybody who is badmouthing this see the performance on the live webcast? I'm going with no, and it's unfortunate but you won't be able to because it won't be available for replay.
Here's another thing to chew on.
Every single person from GM from TOP to BOTTOM had nothing but PRAISE about Kid Rock at the GM Style event last night.
I heard people argue with each other. One GM person said "Kid Rocks not my style...BUT he did a GREAT job last night."
I heard another say 'You're crazy, Kid Rock IS my style and you need a new taste in music!"
GM was VERY pleased with Kid Rock last night. Hopefully we see more.
Oh, and the poster above me is right. Maximum Bob Ritchie...(that's Kid Rock) did just come off a #1 album. So much for some of your prejudgements.

I'd be a lot more upset if the ZR1 was on stage with the sort of music that people listen to when they make enough to buy a $100K car. Celine Dion, anyone? How 'bout some Kenny G?
Kid Rock is alright by me, although I understand why some folks outside of Michigan might not "get it" (Segar is kinda the same way).

Now I didn't look at the vid, and maybe he did a good job, I don't know, but I remember when he busted on the music scene from nowhere and his first impression on me has stuck ever since. He seems low rent. Still way better than any POS rapper garbage, though.
Am I pissed off that he is on stage with the ZR1? No, I couldn't care less about it
They could have used Jacko for all I care.

IMO I'd even take the infinitely cliche'd "O Fortuna" (still awesome though) over kid
I agree, they could have used a real car guy like Jay Leno to introduce the ZR1, I don't know how many times I've heard him plug the Z06 on his show but its a lot.
I find it interesting that so many people are so interested in this car. On the CF, there's a giant thread picking all its details to pieces... and everyone is up in arms re: forced induction. Now who gets to play at a press release gets picked to pieces
I see this attention (both good and bad) as a testament to the value offered by the C6Z.
Even though I don't like the idea of its extra weight, it's going to be a straight-up badass flagship car, and it's a rolling testbed of all sorts of applications of choice materials and technologies. Maybe I'll be able to pick up one in a few years, more likely I'll be getting a C6Z. Either way, it's a damn cool exercise in what we can put together in the states. Hopefully I can get those brakes for my C6Z
And from the more recent pics I've seen, it's sexy as hell.

Or calling him a has been or a low life...
How many rockers do this?
Kid Rock’s GM Style performance is on the heels of his annual Christmas trip to the Middle East to entertain U.S. soldiers. An international superstar with hometown sensibilities, his recently released album, “Rock ‘N Roll Jesus,” debuted at the top of Billboard’s album chart.
True to his Detroit-area roots, Kid Rock is also a dedicated muscle car enthusiast.

Rocks got a replica Genral Lee that he just bought..he had a very nice Shelby and the Trans Am in his video for "Cowboy" yea thats his too along with some really nice Caddy's and other hot rods and muscle cars..what defines a "car Guy"???
I guess having 50cent posing for the G6 GXP is better???
Z28Wilson sums it up about nice..and Nitro..would love to see the link about people actually bashing a work of art apposed to the guy introducing it...

BTW the reason I'm calling him a washed up has been is because the biggest thing of note he's done in the last couple of years was the whole Pamela Anderson crap. He didn't even crack the top 25 best selling albums in 2007. Debuting at number one for one week then pretty much vanishing is not my idea of a performance of a top line musician that is still relevent. I think you have to sell 500k albums to go gold and I THINK he barely hit that mark on his last album. For a point of reference the guy used to sell that many records in a few months time on his previous albums. I think that is pretty much the definition of washed up. His big fans went and bought Rock N Roll Jesus(raised eyebrow on that one) the first couple of months and since very precious few folks have touched his work or at least have paid for it.
Bleh...I just don't think you could find a seedier sleazier musician to hawk a product and that includes that walking target sillouette 50 cent.

And for the record, I have his new album, and I like it a lot. Some people on here really need to chill out a little...
I agree.
