Case in point is right here... it was Evoq ...

I knew it didn't look right for some reason . But it hasn't stopped VW with their Toureg.

That's a funny name. Kappa!!!

Is the rumored production solistice rwd or Fwd? I know the concept was rwd, but if it were to be approved for production, would GM keep it rwd? I was also under the impression that the ecotec was transversally mounted. I know the concepts wasn't but to keep costs down, would GM skip through the trouble of adapting it to a rwd platform?

I think that GM is going to keep it rwd considering all the announcements of gm planning new rwd platforms, probably suited for that car

The production car wouldn't make sense as a front driver. It will be RWD, no worries there.

GM's platform names follow the Greek alphabet.

I wonder if GM will be able to keep it at the $20k base price goal now. Hopefully it can.

Does anyone think that a 20k - 25k two seat 4 cylinder powered entry level sporty car could fit into Chevy's lineup? Maybe as say a neo Monza?

I'm sure it'll be Kappa'ing a bunch of @sses on a road course. Which is why you won't be seeing my @ss there.

This thing will rock, especially with a 200+hp ecotec and a low curb weight (both of which i'm assuming it'll have).

Will it be a 2 seater? tell me so. No back seat is the only way to go with this car.

I hope the pricing is at no more 23k tops. I figure a lesser loaded cavvy/cobalt (future ss model i'm sure) will probably top off at near 18-20k. I'll assume this car (blown ecotec) will be priced at 21-23k. A N/A version at 17k-19k. Are my guestimates off from what you guys think?

Bob Lutz is on record stating that he wants the base Solstice to cost no more than $19K.

*BONUS TIDBIT*

Eventhough GM has been working on supercharged 4 cylinders, turbo 4's are in the GM pipeline.

I wonder if there is a division of GM that nobody thought about gettin a Kappa based car that could?

click me

The Saab 9X looks very similar to this

click me too

Do you think that with mention of turbos that Saab could be involved? We already know they are allowed turbos. We need to see if we can figure out the 'business case' for this car it may shed light on cost and many other factors.

Whatcha think guys is it possible?

SAAB = Turbos at GM.

If GM had not purchased SAAB, I don't believe turbos would currently have a bright future at GM.

SAAB engineers really know turbos.....and they are bringing this expertise to the GM powertrain party.

great news about the Solstice. having said that, the below comment from the other board bothers me.

Damn straight. f*ck Opel. This is about building cars by Americans, for Americans.

what a fackwit. i'm sure the fact that Opel basically donated its entire car line and architecture from the mid '90s for US "powerhouse" GM to build its best cars or "cars of the future" on has nothing to do with the Solstice even being a possibility. i can't stand ignorant nationalists.
Ignorant nationalists are one thing...I'm not a real nationalist, I don't really pay attention to where stuff is made when I buy it like I should...but just because a car is going to be called a "Pontiac" doesn't mean that its not actually an import. It didn't mention where the platform would be produced in that article, so who is that guy to say its a true "american" car ?? Its not a true american car until its produced in america, where its supplying U.S. jobs.
