Is it just me?...
ford thunderbird definetly came before mustang...
on another topic, I know quite a few people who prefer retro.... and thats just what ive heard around my highschool mostly about the new stang. From what I can tell 70% love it to death while the remaining 30% thinks its the worst idea ever.
If the car looks good Ill drive it, and first gens are proven good looking car. Personally Id rather they retro it to death and make it look good as compared to it being like everything else in chevy's lineup: *** ugly with a huge chrome bar on the front end
However, if GM does pull through and show us they actually still have something left of a styling department, that would be even better.

I think it would be great if they would remake a first or third gen.
Take out 800lbs, cut the overhang in half and make the rear wheel wells fit a pair of 345's. Of course keep it RWD, 300+ HP and 50/50 weight distribution. That would be great as well. I could go on for a while with this, so...
The only problem would be the old cars are rendered obsolite(if they weren't already). The lines work, reuse them!

Retro = TrendyPop. Taking some cues from previous cars is OK but the entire car being all out retro is not cool. Takes away from the originals and isn't very creative.
And I wouldn't quite call 1st Gens copys of M*stangs. They were better cars and IIRC there were designs started on a smaller Chevy sporty performance coupe before the M*stang was even though up but GM waitied as usual and the came out as the 2nd guy because of it on a version of the new Nova's X-Body since it was then rushed. Guion can probably give more information.

I like the design kris did. I am not a huge fan of retro designs but his was very well done and I would love to see his design rather than the 2004 Camaro that is rolling around now(read none). I would like to see an evolutionary camaro for the fifth gen but my main concern is that I see a fifth gen.
