Seriously though, after seeing a few in person I can say that I really, really like the front end, but I still think the roofline looks waaaaay too long and the rear end does little for me. However, if I drove one I might like it well enough to overlook it's super long torso.
I'd love to see the Magnum with the Charger's front end.

If you think the 300 styling is too aggressive, then you need to take a look at the Charger...

When I saw the nose of the Charger on mags, I really didn't like it. My view was "At least it's RWD, not hideous, and very quick".
Seeing one in person on a lot or at an auto show made me think "It's actually not a bad looking car".
But seeing one on the street, around other cars makes me think "WHOA! Now THAT looks like a brute!"
The Charger looks very disproportionate in pictures. It looks almost goofy with a wannabe tough looking front end. But when you see one on the streets, the proportions that make the 300C look like a gangster's car makes the Charger look like it's been raised on steroids. That front end actually adds heaps to the "don't mess with me" proportions. It's the 1st car that screams "Bad-***" when around other cars I've seen since the 1st time I saw a new Cadillac CTS (also black).
For those of you who haven't seen one on the street around other cars, don't worry. You certainly won't miss it (or forget it) when you do.
BTW, the count's now up to 8 that I've seen on the streets in the past few days. 4 were black, 2 red, one white & one some other dark color.
I haven't seen one without the HEMI yet..... not bad for the part of California known for treehuggers.

Re: Just drove an Charger R/T
I saw the Charger in pics and didn't like the styling, and then I saw it at NAIAS and decided I really didn't like the styling. But now that I'm seeing them on the street in a few different colors, I've got to say that it's OK. I still like the 300C better, and of course it doesn't hold a candle to the '94-'96 Impala SS, but I certainly wouldn't be ashamed to park it in my driveway.
Doesn't matter much, anyways - it could have bodywork constructed of rotting plywood and I'd still want one. The LX platform is something I could fall in love with.
Where's the usual it's-not-a-GM-so-it-sucks crowd?
They're usually coming in about this time to sell us on the virtues of FWD.

Re: Just drove an Charger R/T
I liked the look of the 300C much better than the Charger in pictures. But the last week I saw three RTs prowling the streets. To say that it looks better in pictures is an understatement. I like the more aggressive side profile of the Charger, I like the nose of the Charger, I just don't like the rear end. I think the SRT8 Charger will look a whole lot better than the RT. And for the "It's not GM so it sucks crowd," Fellas, our beloved GM doesn't produce a rear drive V-8 that gen Xers can buy (guys who once had F-bodies and now have families). What is one to do. My dad, who is a die hard Ford guy always gives me crap now that I have an all Mopar garage. Heck, GM and Ford doesn't offer anything competitive. I certainly can't justify plunking down money on a V series, I could put down payments on a couple more rental units for that. GM needs a car like the 94-96 Impala SS. Big, sport oriented RWD V-8, and make it sub 40K. Gotta have more oats than the Marauder, and it will sell. See the success of the LX platform as a portent of things to come. I mean, come on, DCX is planning offshoots like the Challenger, can a duster be far off?
Re: Just drove an Charger R/T
I think red is one color that could have not been an option on the Chargers. That was the color of the first one I saw on the street and it just doesn't set right with me.
I beginning to love the LX cars. I love them all now. Finally saw a SRT-8 300C on the road the other day and if that Charger version looks anything like that, this car is going to teach the auto manufacturers how to build cars. BTW, I saw a V-series CTS and I have to say that the 300s styling is much more pronounced then the CTS's. The CTS has more of a sleepers look to it then the SRT-8 does.

Re: Just drove an Charger R/T
I happen to get behind a new Charger on the way home yesterday near a huge dealership complex; someone was test driving a ivory colored RT. I followed it into the dealership and parked. They had a ruby red SX in the back that I looked at first. Kind of interesting to contrast a base, stripper with a loaded RT (ivory car had every option except nav). Sat in the RT and was impressed with the interior. The car definitely looks much better in person, though I'm still a little bothered by the C-pillar treatment. One thing that did suprise me was the tires; RT had 225-series 18's. Man, people threw all kinds of fits when they found out that GTO's came with only 245's. And this is a BIG car (by today's standards). I mentioned it to my wife, since we'll be replacing her Intrigue next year. She liked the idea of 340 hp......
