Trailblazer SS, SVT Sportrac, Grand Cherokee SRT-8........I guess if you're looking for a 390-425 hp, AWD, 5 passenger, Muscle SUV....you're in luck.

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8.

Too bad Chevy never produced the promised Trailblazer SS, Tahoe SS or any other SS that could perform as well as the upcoming SRT8 Grand Cherokee.

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8.

You know, I was thinking.....

I really hope that Chevy doesn't flub the asking price on the Trailblazer SS. Wagoner is indicating that GM will stop the practice of overpricing....and then offering rebates.

I hope they apply reason to the MSRP of the Trailblazer SS, or they'll be stacking up like cord wood (or even like Silverado SS's and SSR's) in deler lots.

It's concievable, that if I'm already looking a RWD Trailblazer SS, I've already looked at a Magnum R/T. The SS would give me sticker shock, if it were priced above $29,900, for 2wd.

I hope Chevy doesn't blow this one - price wise.

You need to keep up on your automotive news http://www.detnews.com/2005/autosins...C01-122313.htm

Is that Jeep trail rated???

I have no problem with hot rod SUVs, but Jeeps is all about off-road performance (like HUMMER) Leave the Street SUVs to dodge.

I am in awe..... 425hp, 4wd, 3.73 posi, 20x9F & 20x10R.
this is what DMC does on a whim? Gm can't do that on purpose!!!!!
The drivetrain on that better be bulletproof.

1) On a whim, my bum. It is an SRT derivative (sort of like the Viper, SRT-4, 300C SRT-8, etc., or like Ford's SVT or GM's Performance Vehicles Group).

2) The Trailblazer SS will be similar in power ~400 hp, also have 20s, a Nurburgring-tuned suspension (where the C6, Z06, Cobalt SS, CTS-V, Ion RL, STS-V, etc. have been developed), 4.10 axles, and the choice of rear or all wheel drive. It does still have the 4 speed auto, but it is a beefed up version (now 4L70E, up from 4L60E and 4L65E). I'm guessing it will be a bit lighter, too (especially if you get the rear drive version). It also is not goofy-looking, like the new Grand Cherokee is (IMO).

When I first saw pictures of it, I thought it looked pretty cool. A little more angular than the previous version. Then I started seeing them in person and ... no. The addition of the "hemi" is cool, but the Grand Cherokee looks strange to me now. Either way, both the Trailblazer SS and the SRT8 GC are pretty mean SUVs.

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8.

We only saw preliminary prototypes of the SS line of trucks and SUVs over two years ago! GM takes way to long to get concepts into production. I wanted a Trailblazer SS before I bought my Hemi QC. At this rate, I will be all Mopar. I intend to buy a SRT8 Magnum as soon as they are available.
