JD Power Long Term Reliability Survey
JD Power Long Term Reliability Survey
Cherck out this article at Detrtoit News - AutosInsider section. The long term reliability (2001 models) report from JD Power was released and the scores are interesting. For example, GM as a whole, trails Toyota and Honda but takes the overall number 4 spot beating out BMW.
At the bottom of the article is a brand by brand breakdown. Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet score very well. 2001 Malibu actually wins it's segment and Tahoe is rated the most dependable SUV. What's really interesting is where vaunted names like VW/Audi and Mercedes Benz both of whom have very high perceived quality reputations, are in the list. Both Honda and Toyota trail Buick and Cadillac in the brand comparisons.
Very encouraging results, but it will likely take years to be positively reflected in the marketplace - too bad. The results are based on input from 48,000 survey respondents.
Edit:
Oops, I just now noticed this in another thread - my bad... sorry for the repost, I was sure I didn't see it here when I started typing...
