Cool Imagine that...an auto critic LOVES the SSR!

http://www.freep.com/money/autorevie...3_20030703.htm

He says at one point he'd rather have the Chevy than the base Mercedes roadster!

Even though it's well documented that I'm not a retro fan, and a lot of people here don't see the point of it/hate it, I have always liked the SSR and I think they will sell as many as they can build over the next few years. I expect more power and other improvements as well to keep things going.

I'm in the minority here as well, but I like the SSR. I can't afford to buy one, but I like them.

I'd like to see a shot of a production engine bay.. I loved how the clean and uncluttered the engine bay was in the show car..... vs my camaro's ls1 "borg" look.

I dont think that car will do any better then the Prowler did. It is basically targeting the same market and I think will be gone in 5yrs.

I wouldn't mind having one, but not for $42K. In three years when they're $20K used, then we can talk.

If the price dropped like that, then even I would be an SSR convert!

However, I suspect that because these will be made in such small quanities, the price will do what the 96 Impala SS did: freeze at that price level or increase.

Production will max out at about 12,000 units. Expect a 10k premium when these first come out. Dealers will be lucky to get one unit for '03.
The marketing strategy is flawed on this vehicle.
Fire up the customers on this product for a few years, then make the truck almost unavailable. GM could really use an affordable vehicle that is as good of a seller as the Pt Cruiser.

I'd love to have one. Wonder why Chevy wants to make it so hard to get your hands on it?? Seems like they could make more if they wanted to. Cant wait to see one lowered to the max with some different wheels.

With voluptuous fenders and a 300-horsepower V8, the SSR tops even the Corvette Stingray on the coolness scale

He lost all credibility when he stated that.

I love the SSR! I just can't afford the sticker price!
