I'm now on the media bias bandwagon
I think some of the "bias" comes from the public perception and feeding it. Many media networks placate their audience and if public perception on the Domestic brands is down they play to that.
The Big 3 going to Washington and asking for a taxpayer loan is isn't going to draw a lot of public praise and it gives many a opportunity to voice a very cynical opinion. Some of that is earned and some is just a backlash over the bailout.
I see your point but when it comes to car companies and Honda and Toyota in particular we're talking about a lot of American investment and sales. Toyota is the leading auto brand in terms of sales in the US. What we are pointing out is that while they get the praise then they don't get equal disdain in the media for actually higher losses in sales than the Domestic brands.

You would think that more people would have caught on to this statement.
American news corporations, talking about American companies.
Like OMG!!!!
That's funny, I don't see anyone on here bitching that the media doesn't cover the on goings of the Central Bank of Madagascar's turmoil over Bank of America's.
People can't see the forest from the trees sometimes. Don't worry though, it should come as no surprise that humans aren't always rational.

Bah, I know how to fix that (well aside from banks refusing to issue loans), If you are a stockholder in Ford, your eligible for the X-plan discount (and if I read correctly - there is no minimum amount of stock you have to purchase - just need to be a shareholder) plus any incentives they have to offer.
Heh last time I checked Ford was trading under 3.00 bucks

Well the big one is that they are American companies. 2nd they are big bad old industries and not new and sexy like Google or Apple. 3rd Most of the press doesn't understand the industry. I don't work in the industry and I can find tons of flaws in newspaper and TV reports. 4th the Big media (or maybe the public) just loves a tragic story, that is what sells, and as someone already said Big Corporate owned media is all about ratings and making money.
I could understand that, but it is still showing bias. When you report sales and how far some companies are down, which shouldn't be a surprise in this economy, why not show how far everyone is down. What I have heard from the media is that no one wants to buy American cars and the American industry should die, even though there is evidence against both of these.
Except that it has been this way, in my opinion, for quite some time. Long before the current crisis (caused largely by the financial institutions, who had no trouble getting bailed out) caused the automakers to beg for some government loans...
On the bright side, this year was so bad that hopefully by next Dec. Chrysler will have no were to go but up and they will have positive year over year sales.
They don't report on foreign companies doing badly, because it's only the American companies they'd like to do away with! Telling you how they are also doing bad, doesn't fit in with their agenda. They omit the things they don't want you to know, and they overemphasize anything that makes the American brands look bad. ie recalls, lower sales, layoffs, factory closings, whatever they can find, to paint a picture of doom & gloom for the American brands! Just look at the evil suv thing, GM has the best mpg for V8 suv's out there, and yet they build gas guzzlers suv's. It's plain and simple, the same ol' BS from these clowns, day in day out! I can only hope the media's days are numbered...
What about Toyohondassan plants in American building cars by American jobs for Americans by the hundreds of thousands?
To put it midly, I would be vehemently opposed to any kind of bailout for the media industry, should they "come under hard times"! Maybe they should die, because the sheeple are opening their eyes and becoming people again!! Ah wishfull thinking...it's good sometimes...They may die anyway due to the internet, that'll be fine too. A friend of mine just bought a new Chevy for her dad. About a month ago, I had been talking with her about all this **** going on. Funny part is her BF is a Ford guy...haha Mike strikes again! I love it! It sucks though that I won't be able to afford the new Camaro when it comes out. I am a promotional machine when it comes to the products I love too. That's why this media thing get's me so crazy. They have been attempting to bring down the company (and the entire industry) I've promoted for years. And ultimately put an end to the kind of cars this board is dedicated to, and that ain't ****ing cool. I've been a Chevy guy forever, and the more time I spend with people the more people I bring over to our side. If/when I can get a 5th gen, there's gonna be someone I know that will have to have one faster than mine...lol!!
