If you have seen the picture somewhere else, HUSH! Lets see who can guess what it is and where I saw it.
Looks like it could be a Daytona prototype class race car, it is similar in looks to the car Pontiac is racing in that class (mid-engine). I would bet the photo came from the GM Heritage Center.

Re: I want to see a GM Exotic

I was gonna say its another Corvette Indy concept that I havent seen before, but it feels much out of portion compared to the Indy Concept of 86' (Considering the Windshield is INFRONT of the front wheels!!!). Though I must say the front bodywork reminds me of a Mclaren F1 more than anything else. Espicially the racing F1

I don't think I've ever seen that car before, and I don't have a clue where it could be. So I am going to take a wild guess and say its some kind of land speed record car that was used on the salt flats, since it has funky looking wheels and really low profile tires and what appears to be really skinny front tires. I do see some Oldsmobile Aerotech in it, is it from the late 80s early 90s era?

My second wild guess would be a solar electric racer, but I don't see any solar panels?

Re: I want to see a GM Exotic

It looks like an IMSA GTP class car. It looks like the missing link between the Corvette GTP (you can see some of it in the front) and the Pratt and Miller Intrepid (which has a chevy powerplant). If I had to guess on year I would say about 1990 for a few reasons.
1) All the factories we're still involved in sports car racing at that time.
2) There is a lot of Corvette Indy/Cerv III in that car and I know that program was still active.
3) The ICI sponsorship on the car. ICI was the sponsor of Tommy Kendall's Trans-Am championship Berreta of that time period and ICI was also the one of the sponsors of the Chevy Intrepid (which TK also drove and had that horrible accident at watkins glen in)

How did I do?

Terrible.

Here is the DL on the car in the picture. It isn't really a car. It is only about 5-6 foot long and looks like a supersided RC car but it may have actually been a go cart. I took it at the National Corvette Museum. It was sitting about 20 foot in the air above the entrance to the rotunda. I am suprised the picture turned out as good as it did.

Re: I want to see a GM Exotic

Since we're on the topic of exotic cars/racecars.. guess who won the 12 hours of Sebring.. Audi again.. But this time in a diesel powered car!

Actually, they had tons of problems wiht their new R10... Luckly, everyone else seemed to have problems..

And C6-R's won GT1 class too, beat out the Aston, for revenge for 2005.. heh.. The C6-R's also had a 121 pound handcapp too!
