I Smell A New Camaro!

I just got my new issue of R&T today, and on the cover is the 2005 Mustang concept.

Inside, there is a small blurb on something called the "Chevy SS." I'm just speculating, but I think this car may very well be the next Camaro. Just take a look at the lines of this car. It has the curves in the fenders of a 1st Gen, the "gils" of the 1969 (but in the front), and lights similar to the ones on the current 98+ Camaro.

Anybody else thinkin' the same thing? I think GM's gonna roll out this car and "test the waters" to see what everyone thinks, and once everybody's excited about it, I think they're gonna drop it out as the new Camaro.

That's just me being optimistic.

Chevrolet's super sport heritage is alive and kicking. The bow-tie brand is in the midst of launching an entire SS lineup, with performance versions of its SUVs and pickups hitting showrooms first. But soon after (hopefully!, Chevy will build a production version of the SS concept. What looks like a Mazda RX-8 on steroids, the SS is a product of GM's Los Angeles design studio and sports fluid lines, short overhangs, and muscular fenders. Powering the rear-wheel-drive sedan is a brute 6.0-liter V-8 that cranks out 430 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The small-block powerplant is paired with an electronically controlled Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. Huge 21-inch front/22-inch rear wheels shod with BF Goodrich tires and massive 14-inch front/14.5-inch rear brake rotors round out the performance package.
Donno about replacing the camaro. I think its ugly as hell in the front.

The next Camaro better have independent rear suspension like the 2005 Mustang will have.

The front end looks half '70 RS and half '98+ Camaro. Especially the hood. Second gen all the way.

yea but knowing todays emissions, it'll be released with 300 HP or something considerably weaker then this concept car.
The 05 mustang concept has a 400 HP supercharged 4.6 v8, but the production car will only have 300 HP when released.

4 Doors or not, if that's what it takes for the Camaro to be successful, so be it. I think it's sweet looking. It looks much better from a side profile.

I think it could benefit from the "half doors" like Saturns have with the hidden doorhandles.

And someone said the 2005 Mustang will have an IRS. Nope, sorry. It will have a live axle. Ford must be a bunch of dumbasses, but slightly smarter than GM. Their muscle car is still around.

I thought that the 2005 Mustang was on the Lincoln LS platform? Isn't the Lincoln LS platform an IRS?
