I have a crazy idea
I was reading Johnny Hunkins report on the new Camaro and he mentioned the Firebird being dead. When i was reading this I had an epiphany for the coolest come back and marketing scheme ever in the auto world, at least in my opinion
So here it is: The GTO is having its fun for the time being and will continue having its fun on to the years of the Zeta platform. But after those days, say in 10 or so years from now, the GTO's days are numbered as the Firebird will make its come back. but it may not be called a "Firebird" but rather "Phoenix" just going with the whole legend of the Phoenix i think it would be very fitting. Atleast have thPhoenix be a special ***** out insane trim level of the Firebird.
I may have gotten a little carried away in my imagination but I even have thought out a commercial for its return. This is how it will go: You see a 4th gen Firebird Formula WS6 racing down a one lane road going faster and faster, then at the end of the road it hits a ramp and flys off the edge of a cliff. It would be shot in such a way that it looks like it's doomed for. Then the camera pans up and you see a giant phoenix on fire (obviously
) come out and dive into the Firebird and kind of morphs into the new Firebird/Phoenix (depending on the name they go for) and it starts to fly and lands on a road across the valley (between cliffs) and continues to go even faster.
OK, i've had my fun

i think the firebird/trans am (if they could use ti again) names are too valuable to lose
especially to lose to a car named the phoenix (good name but, as werm said, it's not fitting for this kind of car imo)
i do see where you're going with the commercial part though
i liked it
seemed like it was exciting (like pontiac is going for) and how it would morph into the new firebird/trans am/phoenix sounds pretty sweet

I don't think they should give it the same name as THIS CAR.
