I'm keeping the 1967 blue coupe forever!

The 1967 Rally Sport will probably be sold in the next 12 months.

I'm keeping my 1995 Z28 until it gets replaced with a 200x Z28.

I voted "forever." However, i plan to have my camaro so long as i can afford to continue driving it aqnd it is still enjoyable. The first bottom end rebuild i've ever done on an engine is in my camaro so it holds some sentimental value. If at some point it becomes necessary to sale it for budgetary reasons then I will. But until that point comes i plan to cling to it so long as i can.

That is all speculations/rumors. I want something official. Really, is there even a shred of factual evidence that GM is even working on a 5th gen outside of enthusiast speculations/rumors? Right now, we're only speculating that a future 5th gen might be on said platforms.

And the lack of the use of the term "Camaro" just highlights what i just said. They don't even want to publicly acknowledge the car as a whole. That's what i ment by "they aren't tossing us any bones". They are keeping us in the dark. If GM won't even publicly acknowledge a 5th gen camaro, then i feel that there's no real reason why i should hold my breath or hold out for it. But deep down inside, i think we'll see it by 2008. My worry is that they'll call it something else.
GM won't say anything "officially" until the Camaro is rotating on a turn table at the NAIAS. but people from within GM have said a RWD Chevy coupe coming. People that work in the Camaro group at GM have even said good things are coming. A new camaro can't come out until the new RWD platform is out and right now GM isn't making any RWDs other than the Vette, GTO (monaro) and Caddys. Until you see cars like the Zeta GTO on the road you really can't say the next Camaro isn't coming.

How long will I keep my current F-body? Hopefully forever. When ever 5th Gen comes out has nothing whatsoever to do with me keeping my current car. It is dependent on other things.

If there is no new Camaro, it is not the end of the world for me. I am, however, keeping my faith. As long as GM brings out an affordable (subjective, of course...) RWD 4-seater V8 w/good looks, it really doesn't matter to me whether it is called Camaro or something else.

As long as I can enjoy the sound and power of a GM V8 in a nice looking coupe. Preferrably with t-tops, of course.

Oh, I'm definitely keeping my Z! IMHO, that's the last thing GM did right was the 93-97 Camaros, with the possible exception of the 98-02 Firebirds. Every other car has been a waste of time (again, IMHO). (yes, Vettes are nice, but they don't count because they fall under a completely different set of rules).

Look at the cars they've shelved since 1993, it's pretty sad really. Typhoon, Syclone, Impala SS (the real one), Camaro, Firebird.

Well, at least you can get an Aveo with an MP3 player.

As long as it takes , Im not that worried about it . I love my current Trans AM and I will always have it , within a couple years I'll be building another LS1 powered 4th gen camaro as a track only car . And , as soon as the GTO's start seeing the used car market , and come down to about 13-14K , I will trade my bonneville sse for a GTO to drive everyday . IIIIIf I like the new Camaro when it comes , I will likey buy .......if Im not to wrapped up in all my other projects .

In a article for Autoweek about 6 or 8 months ago, when asked about a Chevrolet competitor to the Mustang, if I remember correctly, it was Chevy's General Manager who said "We're working on it".

Confirmation enough.

If Chevrolet introduces the perfect performance coupe, and IF it has a name other than Camaro, you use it as a reason not to buy it, that's pretty shallow and superficial isn't it??

There's been so much posted here regarding why GM isn't mentioning the Camaro name, it's utterly pointless to revisit it again.

As an old timer around here, it's your job to educate the new comers.

I could care less if they announce anything by those dates - I am never getting rid of my Camaro.

I may or may not buy a new one if it ever rears it head.

Then right on the heels of this statement, their MARKETING DIRECTOR comes out and claims that the Monte Carlo and Cobalt are targeted at the Mustang's market - remember that?

Memory Refresher --> also from Autoweek
Quote - "Ford's new Mustang may be getting rave reviews, but a key competitor says it isn't worried. Chevrolet marketing director Jim Campbell says the bow-tie division can cover that segment with the four-cylinder, supercharged Cobalt SS and Monte Carlo. "The Monte Carlo is capturing part of that market," Campbell says, pointing out the coupe's success on the NASCAR circuit."

I hope they (the GenMan and MarDir) are two different guys talking about two different situations, but as I recall their marketing guys are still shoring up the walls with "We got it covered" rhetoric. Even if they are refering to different situations, it looks poor on the outside that the company can't send a unified signal to it's followers. (Which is why so many editors are harping on GM lately IMO.)

Also, this is why I eluded to my desire for an official "leak" of some kind.
MAN, could something like that quell the naysayers and get the positive buzz going for Chevy right now.
