Good news, if there is still a chance to keep Chrysler from breaking up.

I hope Chrysler can stay together...I don't know if that will happen, though, since Cerberus seems to only be interested in Chrysler for the money they can get out of it. And if tearing Chrysler apart limb from limb makes them some money, they'll do it.

I agree. Cerberus does not get my respect here. Hopefully, Cerberus might get the point that Chrysler has more value to them as whole, than in parts.

But if Chrysler is running out of cash like GM is, then they'll need to get it somewhere.

Good news for now, but what would be a better option, Chrysler splitting up and going to several buyers, or Chrysler ceasing to exist altogether?

Personally, I think the best thing for the industry would be a complete buyout by Nissan-Renault, which would give the best chances of keeping the Dodge and Chrysler brands alive, but now even those chances aren't looking too promising.

I thought they're having their own troubles staying afloat?

Everyone is. However to me that merger makes the most sense based on existing agreements between the companies and Renault's desire to get back into North America. That is if you want to see Chrysler remain a presence in the industry.

I think Renault wants to assume UAW legacy costs and a Unionized workforce about as much a France wants to go back into Vietnam at Điện Biên Phủ...
